It's Always a Good Day to Pluck Your Chin Hairs!

Just take one look at this picture and you might get the gist of how I'm feeling these days! It has been dark and rainy just a little too long and my motivation is on the fast train out of town!

How about you? Do you lose your motivation when it's a dark winter day? I know it's fall but Mother Nature skipped over that here.

How about we make a list of things that make us feel proud and productive at home?  Are you with me? I'll tell you a few of my ideas and you tell me some of yours.

These are some of the tasks that I know need to happen very soon:

1. Cleaning. To begin with, my baseboards, ceiling fans, and vents need to be cleaned. That's not glamorous but it's real. After my big ladder snafu last year, I got a spiffy new ladder so I look for excuses to use it. Really, I do.  Look around for parts of your home that need a little freshening up. Maybe a fresh coat of paint or a new pillow will make you happy.

2.  Photos. There are thousands of photos saved on my computer and phone. Yours too? I would like to start editing and printing some of those. We have had so many major life events in the last year or two that are stored on my hard drives and they need to see the light of day. I have some fun ideas coming up for that. Do you print photos for scrapbooking? Do you collect them by the hundreds in drawers? Let's work on that.

3. Thanksgiving. Do you travel or stay home? Do you have company? We travel so I just get my dishes ready and take them with us. It's easy peasy for me. Last year we had Friendsgiving with some friends and I'd like to plan that get together again very soon. It's time to dig out the old recipes or possibly search for something new.

3.  Christmas preparations. Yes, you knew that would be on the list somewhere. I need to make a list and start ordering. We like to go to the mall one time at Christmas to see the festive lights and hear the choirs sing but otherwise, we shop online. Have you seen this post at County Road 407? Cindy has some great ideas about preparing for Christmas.

4.  Revisit 2018 goals. Did you make a big list of goals at the beginning of the year? I did and there are a few things on that list that still need my attention.  Did I write down exercise? Uh oh.

5.  Home Decor, Gardening and DIY plans. We continue to work on the two bedrooms that our son moved from. Those rooms definitely need to be finished for the holidays. In the garden, I'll be putting bulbs in the ground very soon. Do you have gardening tasks you need to complete before real cold comes?

6.  Chin hairs. Now really, I'm joking...not joking. Sometimes it's just important to get the mirror, walk over to a sunny window or lightbulb, and pluck something!

Now it's your turn. Let's help each other out! I'd love to know what's on your list of things to be accomplished soon.

  1. Yes, I have a list and it does contain deep cleaning before the Christmas trees goes up the day after thanksgiving! Right now I am just enjoying lovely fall days with cooler temps and the leaves changing color.

  2. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚too funny if true. You're so cute. I need to clean my floors - can you say muddy dog feet? Doesn't matter how much wiping off I did before they came in, there always was some mud. I did dust my ceiling fan in our bedroom and straightened the art room but I need to do some more cleaning to get ready for the holidays. I'm going to enjoy the sunshine they're predicting for this week first though!

  3. Too funny! I store all my pics on dropbox by year. I need to clean those up. Way too many grainy pics!

  5. I have many of my deep cleaning tasks finished which I great. My husband has to help me take my last set of curtains down for air fluff drying to get dust of. Too short to reach.

Have two projects I'd like to get done before the holidays but time is moving.

This year I get a break from Thanksgiving and going to family. I am usually the dessert person.

I hear you though. Cloudy days give me zero motivation.

It better not be a cloudy mess too often in NJ after our very wet summer.

    Enjoy your day Stacey

  6. Stacey, You had me with your cute title! LOL. I arrived back to Michigan Tuesday evening. You’re right about the weather in TX. We weren’t able to go to the State Fair or the Arboretum because of the weather and the kid’s sports. The Mr. and I are going to our botanical gardens today. But you’re so right about everything else. 2019 will be here before we know it. I dislike the malls so all shopping will be done mostly online, but we like to stroll the mall one time during the season.

  7. Stacey I am with you on dark gloomy days it is just a nap all day kind of day!!!! No motivation with me either. I need that sunshine. I am working on a new project for my living room and that is keeping me busy for now. My daughter does Thanksgiving so I usually get a jump on my holiday decorating. Happy Thursday Stacey. Have a great rest of the week.
    Hugs,
    Kris

  8. I get more done on cloudy, rainy days that are my favorite kind of days.....I baked 4 dozen cookies yesterday while it was pouring outside ....went in my freezer for Christmas gifts to my two Bunco groups.
I generally don't put up Christmas decos until after Thanksgiving but I'm having a Christmas party for one Bunco set of friends in early Dec...so I am working on cute C'mas decorations right now. Wanted a tree for my dining room but so expensive, I hit the thrift shops last week for one. Found a 7 ft, lighted one that I scored for $25...with my senior discount, $20.00. Bought a large can of flocking and as soon as it quits raining, I'll take it outside and frost the tips of the tree. Also want to paint an antique wicker love seat black and I have 2 new black and white pillows and throw to go on it....want to set it by the 2nd hand Christmas tree with bright, pretty gifts on it. I am excited. (I think it's so funny and I laugh at myself having a thrifted Christmas tree...:)
Now, please excuse me...I have one chin hair that is silver, glowing and loooong....gotta go pluck...

  9. Lists and more lists! I can do all kinds of work when I can't sleep at night...that is, in my mind. Since we are not using ceiling fans now, that is at the top of my list. My daughter borrowed my little 2 step ladder and I bought a new one so I told her to keep that one. I just read a post about women shaving. I'm just about to that point. Chin hairs, ugh! Have a splendid Thursday!

  10. I'm always making lists of things I need to get done! I haven't started on my Thanksgiving or Christmas lists yet, but they are on my list to get to! :-) Exercise is always at the top...a body in motion... Have a great one!

  11. LOL!!!! You had me at the chin hairs! Girl, it's bad when you are stopped at a red light and look in the mirror and totally freak out at the hair on the chin! How did I not see that before???? Praise the Lord I carry makeup bag with me where ever I go and of course I had some old tweezers in there! LOL! This made me Laugh out loud today! Going to check out the post by your friend Cindy. Hugs and blessing, Cindy

  12. Ha! I love your list...especially number 6! There's always something to pluck. Hysterical. And I put exercise on the list, too. Except for two 4 week stints at yoga and some occasional walks, uh-oh is right. I need to get on that!

  13. The to do list is never ending isn't it?! My sister is hosting Thanksgiving this year so thankfully I can cut straight to Christmas. I want to make a few things so I really need to get started with that!

  14. This is a great list! I have all these on my to do, but my top priority is getting the house fully organized/unpacked and tackling the garage... where the movers left most of our boxes since we were still finishing some reno’s in the house. ‍♀️ Can’t even park our cars in there so it’s a biggie to do!!

  15. I think we all have those lists. I hate chin hairs. I see them clearly in the daytime via my rear view mirror...LOL

  16. You crack me up Stacey! When I read the title I was like Well this'll be good. And then to see a link to my list put a great big smile on my face. Thanks so much. I'm so grateful to have met you. When is our next luncheon or day on McKinney square? I want more quality time with you!

  17. Haha, I love the title of this post. Rainy days are hard for me to get motivated also. We travel on Thanksgiving as long as my mom is with us. I start my fall deep cleaning at the first of November. Every year instead of black Friday shopping, we love going to a Christmas tree farm to cut down our tree. As for my 2018 goal list I have two months to get it all done right!? Have a cozy evening Stacey.

  18. The title got me, but the end made me laugh out loud. I have one little chin hair that I swear I can feel growing sometimes. It is the same place every time!!!
I need to handle some pictures and the holidays are creeping in fast. I really tried to be an in store shopper but that online thing is just so convenient.

  21. Stacey,
Well, I can check 'pluck chin hair' off my to-do list. Too funny that I just did that before sitting down at the computer to catch up on my reading and browsing. HaHa. I am chest-deep in working on my 8th Annual French Country Christmas Event held in my beautiful white-limestone-clad garden house in my backyard out in the countryside. Everyone in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex is invited to come see the garden house all decked out for Christmas and to shop for special gifts for friends, family, and yourself. See my blog in November for dates, times, and directions... for the first 3 Saturdays in December.

I am also deleting and organizing the 17,000+ photos on my computer. Who needs 24 shots of the same breakfast table setting?

Have a wonderful, beautiful Fall weekend,

    Judith

  22. Oh, Stacey, I must admit, reading this gives me a bit of an antsy feeling. The garden is put to bed, check, and that feels good. I really want to go paperless, so as I am filing a few more pieces of paper away, I'm thinking through the uselessness of that task. Pictures? I want to digitize mine (but what will I do with the actual photos once I do?). Other rainy day activities....there's always something to organize in the basement. If it's going to be dark anyway, why not go to the deepest depths of household darkness, right??
Good food for thought in this post! Have a great weekend.

  24. Oh my goodness Stacey, You have inspired me to make some list! It's raining here today and I really don't want to do a thing but I just worked on Thanksgiving list this morning. Pulled out the recipes to go through them. It's going to be a very busy holiday season for me so list making and organizing and scheduling is a must! AND the photo situation is ridiculous right now, I definitely need to get a handle on it! Nancy

  25. I was going to go out and bring in of all my garden dรฉcor this weekend, but we are in for a nor'easter and supposed to get 100% chance of rain all day tomorrow! Gloomy, rainy days are my excuse to put off what I need to do and just get cozy inside. I do have a lot of cleaning out to do though. Not sure what we are doing for Thanksgiving yet, but I have 3 people already done for Christmas gifts!!

  26. Haha. You are too funny. We must all be on the same wavelength. I'm thinking about things to do in order to prepare for the holidays ahead. I'll have to pull out that mirror. That wasn't one of the things on my list! Ha.

  27. This was so good! It is this time of year where I feel I gotta get it together. For the first time in 20 years, I am hosting Thanksgiving. I am a scrap booker but have been lax since the oldest two graduated high school. I organized some photos but no longer do albums. So.Many.Pictures!

  28. I can't believe it will be November next week! I've hosted Thanksgiving for the past 25 years and let me tell you...I'm tired of it! I never really get to sit down and enjoy myself because I'm always cooking and preparing the food or cleaning up afterwards. I haven't told my family yet, but I'm thinking of getting one of those pre-made meals from the grocery store this year. Shhh...

    ReplyDelete
  29. Oh my gosh...where do I start? Evidently the two of us are on the same wavelength at the moment because I've been thinking of almost everything you've listed. I am very big on TO DO lists! In fact, I was looking at my veeerrryyy long list just today...some are short-term goals that I need to get done soon; others can wait awhile. 1. Cleaning...will probably have a lot to do because looks like we are going to have to remedy some Hurricane Michael damage in the kitchen. 2. Photos: pretty much caught up on getting those organized at least on a separate hard drive; have also finally caught up on both grandkids' Birthday Scrapbooks...but still more projects with photos to be done. 3. Thanksgiving: will cook several dishes to take to my SIL's this year; if I don't take PRETZEL SALAD my nieces mutiny! 3. Christmas: already started shopping. Granddaughter brought me her list this week...the girl has expensive taste! 4. 2018 Goals...I accomplished at least one...joined the gym and have lost 8-10 lbs. (depending on when I choose to pig out on ice cream). 5. Gardening...we picked up enough limbs, sticks, & pinecones after the hurricane to last my gardening itch for aqhile. 6. Chin hairs...the bane of my existence...I'm not off to grab my tweezers!

  30. This could have been my list, chin hairs and all. It is shocking to me, SHOCKING, that November is this Thursday. I host Thanksgiving every year and it was much easier when my husband was alive. He wasn't much help, but he was some. I have already moved into freak-out mode. Don't even get me started on cleaning. Yikes!

  31. I ordered a cute stencil to make a cute Christmas pillow.
I also ordered a stencil to make our back porch presentable and now that our bathroom remodel is finished I have no excuse to not do it.
And always on my list is the garden!

  32. Thanks to my dogs and my choice of dark wood floors pre-dogs, I have the cleaning tasks on a daily repeat in my house! Seriously! I do need to dust some light fixtures though and.....okay I get your point! I like the tips and ideas. I should start on a list!

  33. Love this!! You have inspired me to start making lists! Having four young boys and lots of messes, I feel like I am ALWAYS cleaning! I also need to prepare my flower gardens for the winter, but that’s something I love to do!
Love the fall vignette that you created in your kitchen..so cute!!!
