Once Around Our House Home Tour

Welcome! I spent the day cleaning today and decided to do "Once Around" quick tour. This is not perfectly staged it's just our clean house on a Monday-Tuesday. I love it when the house is clean! It's brief, of course, but the effort is always worth it. :)

I will tell you a few things that you always seem to ask and I have a few questions for you too. :)

See...not perfect. My computer and coffee cup are often in that spot. :)

The front door is painted Sherwin Williams Watery and the kitchen island is too. Best decision ever!
I need a floral arrangement or something like that for the dining room table...something large. Any ideas?

The entry rug is so pretty and it was a HomeGoods find so the price was great! The table was ordered from Joss & Main.

You can see how wide open the spaces are in this house. We love it that way. There are huge windows all around so it's always bright in the main areas of the house.

The fireplace is the elephant in the room I guess you could say. I have not known how to decorate the stone wall so I haven't done a thing! What would you do? What would you put on the hearth? Whatever we do, it needs to be big. The TV stays there because that was one of my husband's requests. I will admit that when a room has the TV centered, it's much easier to situate the furniture.

This is the current guest room which has a bath right next to it. I actually just did this decorating a few weeks ago. There was a different bedding set in here that just wasn't working so again I headed to HomeGoods. Most of the other pieces are very old. I tried to photograph the bathroom but it's an interior room and it just seems to be impossible.

The master bedroom is bright and pretty. We've had our furniture 26 years and will probably have it forever. As my husband says, "It's part of our story." There are times I'd like a more updated look but when he puts it that way, I'm hooked! I do want to update the bedding soon but I'll still choose a white base for all of it. It's so easy to work with that way.

These chairs are oldies but goodies and we had slipcovers made for them. Sophie can often be found napping here.

On my nightstand is the most encouraging book that I'm enjoying right now, Just Open the Door by Jen Schmidt.  I've been reading Jen's blog Beauty & Bedlam for years. Jen's book encourages us to invite people in and eat together. Nothing has to be fancy, nothing has to be staged - you can serve frozen pizza! Just open the door to others as the Bible tells us to.

The master bathroom is hard to photograph but it's simple and pretty. We love the marble floors and shower.

I have two more bedrooms and the laundry room/mudroom to show you one of these days. The laundry room and mudroom area are often a favorite of the female visitors who come here. Hope you have a great week, friends.

  2. Stacey, it is all just perfect. So open, airy, and bright. I love the color for the door and island. You are right, it is the perfect color. I also love the entry rug. I need to go shopping!!! I always struggle with the table centerpiece, so I have nothing to offer there. I will be interested in what others say. For the fireplace, Pottery Barn has some large lanterns. My daughter bought one for her fireplace and I really liked it. The one thing I think you and I know after time, is you don't have to hurry. I am good with leaving something bare until something really hits me.
It is so pretty. I am SO glad you shared it with us today.

  4. Your home is beautiful and the exact opposite of mine....meaning yours is light, bright and airy and mine has dark colors, wood and shadows. I love both! I could definitely live in your style. Just an idea for your mantel...fill it with things you love. On my mantel I have a stack of vintage books, a carved wood candleholder, a small vintage picture of Florence, a decorated shell, a vanity mirror and a cast iron compote dish....just some things I love that match the colors and dΓ©cor.

  7. Oh my sweet friend....so much gorgeousness! You did so good! I love getting a peak at your serene bedrooms and bath. I too hope to showcase more as it gets completed. I’m so excited to see your mud room as I know I’ll love it! I’m slowly incorporating more blue in the main living space and can’t wait for our built ins this Fall to finally pull it all together! I know your Haven is so sweet to you and the Mr., what a delightful oasis. Have a wonderful 4th, can’t wait for Friday!

  8. Stacey your home lovely and so airy. Love that. The beautiful blue vase in your bedroom would also look fabulous on your dining table, or something similar. For the fireplace, some lanterns or grouped chunky candlesticks, maybe some books (I have some on mine and turned them so the pages show rather than the spine), maybe an iron fireplace screen to break up a bit of the stone, and then a basket with either blankets or a pretty plant on the hearth.

  10. Your tour was wonderful. Love the color blues you choose to use throughout your home. The rug in foyer is pretty with the door color.

What if you look for large pieces for the fireplace. We have our TV over our fireplace. The one thing my husband asked for, I couldn't say no to the one thing he asked

    Have a super 4th. πŸ‡±πŸ‡·πŸ‡±πŸ‡·πŸ‡±πŸ‡·

  21. I sigh every time I see photos of your home, Stacey. It is so pretty and calming, maybe its the blue scattered about. And no clutter! I like the TV over the mantel, you are right, it does free up space. If it weren't for our TV and cabinet I could change our living room around a lot. Your hearth is clean and pretty. Maybe on the other side from the fireplace tools, you could do a basket of logs. I have birch logs in a galvanized container. We lost the birch tree awhile back so I love having the memories. The mantel is fun, you have equal space and its not too big or small. Candlesticks on each side, cloches, old books...

    Thanks so much for sharing!

  23. Stacey,
Clean houses! I am all for them, but have a hard time getting all of my house's rooms clean all at the same time. :) Your fireplace stone speaks to my heart... love Texas limestone. Have you considered a large vintage crock (5 gallon size) to set on one side of the raised hearth? Fill it with large flower arrangements for each of the seasons. I think you need BIG things that catch the eye and keep the space uncluttered to go with the current feel of your beautiful home.

Looking forward to this month's featured home tour...

  24. Sherwin Williams Watery is the perfect color to “connect” all of your rooms. So calming . . .

  25. Your home is beautiful inside and out! I definitely love all the light coming in. The soft blue you’ve chosen as your accent is soothing and pretty. I was thinking perhaps one of those oblong multiple candle holders would be nice for your table. It would keep the clean look you desire and add something decorative.

  26. Such a pretty home...I love all the whites and soft colors (how do you keep your furniture so white? I had a white chair once and wearing "jeans" really ruined it as the dye from jeans came off onto the white) Happy 4th!

  28. I think this is the first time you've shared more than bits and pieces here and there and I am in love. It is so peaceful and airy and light! I love the blue of the door. I may have to do my bedroom in that -- thanks for sharing the name. It's so relaxing. I'm sure with the warm TX heat, it is like a little haven.

  31. Beautiful, as always! Love the open spaces too. As far as the hearth, maybe some big pillows? It actually looks great as is though. Love your home tours. Keep them coming with the laundry room! :)

  32. Your home tour was so clean and amazing! Everything works together and looks perfect - summery, welcoming and spacious! I LOVE IT! And the hubby sounds like a bit of a romantic. If I changed our bedroom, I'm not sure the Mister would even notice. ;)

  33. It's beautiful, Stacey. On the hearth, I see a basket with cozy aqua throws spilling out. The marble in your master bath is gorgeous.

  34. I just love your colour scheme! Aqua makes me swoon and I use it a lot in my home! I think a basket with aqua throws would look stunning on your hearth. Love your front door too. Thanks for inviting us in and have a lovely weekend.

  36. Your home always blows me away. I love how you decorate! I think the fireplace just needs some baskets and greenery on the base. Of course, in the cold months when you need to use it you can't have anything there. I just love that Sherman Williams teal blue door and island. Can I ask what the wall color next to the door is? I will be repainting my living room and I'm looking for ideas.

  37. Stacey, your home is so lovely! I love a home with lots of light and sunshine. The aqua touches are just perfect! I could see a large basket or demi John on one side of your fireplace. I am constantly changing what is on mine. You know me, the junk lady! :) Thanks for sharing with SYC.
