Blogging is Complicated But I'm Not - Privacy Policy Statement

Happy  June Days, Friends.

Back in the day, when I first started blogging, there was absolutely nothing to it but to write your thoughts and push publish. Times have definitely changed and there are laws governing what goes here. To that end, I am sharing a statement concerning blogging and cookies and information gathering.

Please understand that absolutely nothing has changed for me.

If you receive emails telling you that I have posted on Poofing the Pillows I thank you for subscribing and for reading. I personally do not collect your information other than your email address. I do not share your information and wouldn't know how to do that if I wanted to because I'm technologically challenged. As with all internet traffic, I guess what you access is being collected somewhere though... this is definitely proven when you Google something and then ads related to your topic pop up on every website for days. The following statement is an update to Poofing the Pillows privacy policy. I am required to make a statement like this.  Again I want to say that nothing has changed for me.

Dear Subscriber,

Today I wanted to share with you our new Privacy Policy that has been updated to comply with the new GDPR regulations effective on 5-25-18.

What is GDPR?
GDPR stands for General Data Protection Regulation. A new law of the EU in the EU ensures that your data is both safe and accessible to you. We handle your data with transparency, taking great care not to share it or sell it to anyone else. Your data is secure.
To comply with this new regulation,  we have updated our Privacy Policy for Poofing the Pillows. You may read that policy Here . I

I want to thank you for your support of Poofing the Pillows through the years and all the new readers who may be finding us.

If you have any questions you can contact me at stacey@poofingthepillows.com.

If you would like to unsubscribe from receiving our email updates, (I really hope you won't) you can do that at the very bottom of an email that comes to you from me.

Thanks so much,
Stacey :)

One more pesky thing...the email system isn't working right now. I try to respond to as many blog comments as possible and will get right back on that asap.

  2. This is soooo aggravating, especially not receiving comments through email and Blogger has everyone as a "no reply blogger." Just so frustrating, but not a thing we can do but wait it out and hope they change it back ASAP.

  3. You are one brilliant lady to actually do a post on the privacy policy. I May have to copy and paste and do the same thing! Yes, the email notifications thingy is driving me crazy. I hear it is suppose to be fixed this week. Hope you had a great weekend!

  4. Stacey,
Even in the short five years I have been blogging, the technical side has gotten more complicated than I like. Thank you for keeping us updated with your Privacy Policy. Hoping the comments/email issue is resolved soon...

Keep cool in this Texas heat,

    Judith

P.S. Word verification drives me bonkers. It took me three tries to get it right this time. Just give me a math problem any day instead of clicking squares that are so hard to read with these old eyes. :)

  5. Stacey, When I first heard that me must comply with this, I wanted to bury my head in the sand and even thought about maybe giving up blogging; but I love it! Fortunately, a few blogs and friends said I could copy theirs and just change out to the name of my blog. It made it much easier for me. I'm not sending the emails. With Mailchimp I was able to segment my entire list and got a list of anyone out of our country. I'm in the process of deleting them and sending another email to ask them to sign in again and to accept everything in my policies. I'm not happy about any of this. You're right about it being so easy years ago.

  6. I'm confused. Am I supposed to DO anything or will I just continue to receive your emails? Because you can't get rid of me that easily!

  7. Why does everything have to be so darn complicated? I seriously think all these changes are going to drive a lot of Bloggers away. There’s always IG though :).

  8. Ugh. This is not my favorite part of blogging by far. I like tweaking my site, taking pictures, writing and commenting with friends. The rest of it is a necessary evil I supposed, but it's not fun at all...

  9. Good luck with comments. I did get a note from the blogger forum saying they hoped the email thing was settled next week. I hope so too.

May I borrow your language? I need to do this -- Blogger said they'd taken care of things but I can't see how they have. I don't know that this would make a dif but at least it will be there. Just email me -- jeanie@wkar.org with a yes or no!
