A Patriotic Porch to Welcome July 4th

Good morning friends! Are you preparing for your July 4th festivities? We have been. We definitely enjoy showing our pride in America!

I'm happy that you are here today because I'm joining a few other bloggers, organized by Amber at Follow the Yellow Brick Home,  to give you a peek at our patriotic porches. In fact, you might be popping in here from Follow the Yellow Brick Home. Welcome!

If you are a regular reader, you know that here at our house we've been busy preparing for our soldier to come home for a few days. He has been here this week so our days have been filled with fun and just a little too much food.

Our porch is long and narrow so there is no room for a lot of extra stuff. I have learned since we've lived here to add a few seasonal pillows, embellish the front door and add just a little more for fun. I found these colorful pillows at Target. The moment I saw them, I knew they were coming home with me.

On our front door, we have hung this sign that I found at Hobby Lobby. I love what it says,

"Home of the Free because of the Brave".

Isn't this really what it's all about? We are celebrating the independent spirit and bravery of those who believed we needed our Declaration of Independence. We are celebrating the people who have protected Americans in the past and the future. And, we are celebrating this great land of ours....we are so blessed!

We stuck little flags in the plants all along the porch. I just love to see flags.  My dad lives on a street filled with historic homes and every house has two flags out by the street. It's a wonderful, heartwarming sight to see.

We also added a couple of buntings at the last minute. They are smaller than I realized and now I'd like to add more!

Whether you go all out decorating your porch or you don't decorate at all; just remember that we live in the greatest country on earth! We must respect and protect all that we have.

"I believe our flag is more than just cloth and ink. It is a universally recognized symbol that stands for liberty, and freedom. It is the history of our nation, and it's marked by the blood of those who died defending it." - John Thune

I hope you will continue on to visit Christi at Our Southern Home to see what she has to share.
Thank you for stopping by!

  2. Love your porch! And Amen! I don’t think I ever stand to hear the National Anthem and not get teary eyed. We live in a wonderful country. I have been a 3/4 yr old Preschool teacher. I start the circle time with the pledge. By November, those children have already memorized it and to see them stand with the hand over their heart is so sweet. Bless their hearts... they pledge every flag they see... Walmart etc.

    1. Molly, I'm so glad to hear that your littles have learned the Pledge. It's hard to imagine not knowing something so important but I guess some people don't. I taught 3 and 4 year olds for a long time too. I can just imagine how precious this is! :)

  3. Your porch is so pretty and perfect for this time of the year. I think more people should celebrate the true meaning of the 4th. We must remember the past and the present. Celebrate those that have given their lives and those who have given their time serving our Country. The Flag means so much to me and I can see that it means the same to you. We have Members serving right now and ones that have served in years past. Enjoy your time with your Son.

  5. Oh the sentimental quote about Old Glory brought tears to my eyes. As a military family we will never forget the sacrifices made by brave men and women. Truly a lovely collection Stacey!

  36. Stacey,
I'm having such a good time looking at all the patriotic porches. Your new pillow, from sea to shining sea, is so cute that I am tempted to buy one, also. But, I do not need any more pillows. I know you are having a grand time with your son home on leave, and he is having a grand time eating your home cooked meals and sleeping in.
