TBB Asks About Entertainment

Happy Monday Friends! Today I'm joining The Blended Blog for their monthly question and answer session. This is just for fun and reminds me of old school blogging which pretty much describes the way I like it. I will answer the questions and I'd love for you to answer them too in the comments.

Comedy or drama?  I think we are talking about movies here. We love comedies here at our house but where are they? I personally don't like comedy that comes with all the raunchy language so that means the list is short. Do you have any suggestions?  I can't wait for Mama Mia! Here We Go Again and Book Club.

We love dramas too! Now don't laugh but we love movies that have to do with epic world-changing events. Wondering what I mean? If there's an exploding volcano or a meteor heading for the earth - we watch it! If there's a terrible virus that might take out mankind - we watch it! I know...you think less of me now. :)

Fiction or Nonfiction?  I'm a fiction reader, most of the time. You can see some of the books I've shared here on the blog by clicking here.

I also love a little bit of nonfiction every now and then. I tell everyone who will listen about Chaser the Border Collie. Such an amazing dog and the story is heartwarming. You can see Chaser's website here.  When you go to the website you'll hear John W. Pilley speaking and you'll definitely want to read this book.

Movies in the theater or at home?  We enjoy both! We do love to go to the movies when there's something worth paying for. Friday night we watched The Hostiles here at home. It was a great story but I had to look away a lot!

Musical or play?  Musicals for me, please. My favorite was Jersey Boys.

Which meal is your favorite to eat out?  Do we have to choose? Give me all the Mexican food any time of day! Also, I love bacon and eggs...especially when someone else gets to cook and clean it up.

Favorite book ever?  Daisy Fay and the Miracle Man by Fannie Flagg is at the top of the list. Also, Light a Penny Candle by Maeve Binchy. I read both of these years ago, way before blogging but they haven't left my mind.

Game night - yes or no?  I love to play games! I usually have to talk this crowd into it but they are fun, in my opinion. Have you ever played this? It's weird and gross and hysterical!

Favorite sitcoms growing up and today?  Growing up I loved Laverne and Shirley! Didn't you? Want to hear the theme song and sing along? Click here.     Today my favorite sitcom is The Goldbergs. They just crack me up!!

Miniature golf or bowling?  Mini golf for me! I have a thing for tiny pencils. :)

Favorite movie theater candy? Milk Duds that I sneak in via my purse. Seriously, I don't like to break rules but I will not pay $5 for a box of candy.

How do you like your popcorn? Hot and buttered with the Milk Duds poured in.

3D movies? Nope! They give me a headache.

Favorite book genre? Well y'all know I love Southern fiction the best. I would recommend all of these - just to name a few!

Now I hope you'll answer some of these in the comments. I'd love to know your favorites.  Also, just in case you missed it...be sure to visit this post to see a fantastic Texas farmhouse tour. It's the real thing!

  1. Looks like we could share candy! Our theatre has started limiting the size of bag you can bring in...blah. That game is the one I purchased to play on Christmas Day this past year and we had so much fun! Happy Monday!

  4. A good disaster movie is among our favorites too! Earthquake, Volcano, Dante's Peak, 2012, The Day After Tomorrow, San Andreas...love them!

  5. I chuckled at the disaster movie comments. That would be us too. So no judgment here:)
I love Fannie Flagg books. I count hers among my favorites. I actually loved her Standing in the Rainbow the most. I don't hear many ever choose that one. I think it was because I grew up in Alabama and the story is so crazy and honestly mirrors life in the 60's in Alabama.
I miss my sitcoms of the 70's too.
    Have a great day.

  6. I'm a Milk Dud girl, too, but I prefer M&Ms with my buttered popcorn. And I'm looking forward to Mama Mia, too!

  7. I used to watch L&S before school every day when I was little. Fun memories. I bet Book Club will be funny but raunchy with that theme lol!

  9. Love your answers! And I haven't had Milk Duds in a long time, now I need some. :) Let's see...Comedy, fiction, movies at home, musical, I love to eat out for Mexican food, favorite book is probably a Southern Sisters one. I'm not much into games, The Office is my favorite series ever, love the sitcoms of today, definitely miniature golf...I have big feet and hate stating my size out loud when getting bowling shoes, so I try to avoid it at all costs. Lol! Movie theater candy...probably Jr. Mints, popcorn with butter, no 3D movies, and definitely cozy mysteries for my favorite genre of books. :)

  10. I'm the same way with the movie candy. We stop at the grocery store on the way to the movies and all get a $1 box of candy. And Laverne and Shirley made my list too!

  11. Well this was fun!! I was answering along in my head. I'm a comedy, non fiction, movies at home, buttered popcorn kind of girl. I just saw the preview for Book Club and that I would go to the theater for! Have you seen Grace and Frankie? So funny...

  13. Fun questions! I like both comedy and drama. I read fiction and non fiction. Usually movies at home. Once a year near my birthday we will go to the movies. I like both musicals or plays. I use to perform in community theater years ago. I like eating out for lunch. You can go to a nice restaurant and pay half the price of their dinner menu. I love the Outlander series of books. I also loved the Mitford series of books. We usually don't play games except cards with our friends. Favorite outside game to play used to be tag when growing up. Favorite TV series ever was China Beach. Sitcoms growing up I liked Bewitched and today it is The Big Bang Theory. I used to love to bowl but it hurts my back now, so I would say miniature golf. Favorite movie theater candy is junior mints. My popcorn with real butter and salt. Love 3D movies!! Favorite type of book would be southern fiction with mature women. That was fun!

  14. How funny about the disasterous movies. I had to laugh! And, Shout Out, oh, my goodness, the funniest game ever. I'm all about breakfast, like you, if someone else is preparing it. Have a great new week!

  15. I love milk duds! They are perfect too because a box can actually last you a whole movie! I'm so excited for the new Mama Mia movie! Looks so cute! :)

  16. Oh my gosh, Stacey, it's so much fun to read this list! I can't wait to check out so many of your recommendations. I've never even thought about putting Milk Duds into hot popcorn but I am definitely going to try it now. We recently got a projector for outside so I might be eating this all summer ha ha. Hope you're having the best day, CoCo

  17. Hi Stacey! I definitely love to read, fiction and non-fiction...my favorite is historical fiction! I love musicals and Jersey Boys was great! I enjoyed learning a little more about you and Happy Tuesday!

  18. This is so fun, getting you know you through these little quirky questions! A thing for little pencils and the milk duds poured into the popcorn....both very quirky. :)
I am not much for any tv or movies (more a music listening person), honestly, but I do watch a few shows, and I enjoy musicals (and ballets, of course). Mr. P. loves the same kind of movies as you & yours! He always save the scenes and queues them for me to come see the apocalyptic destruction, lol.
Fun questionnaire! Have a great day, Stacey.

  19. I love the old school blogging type of posts! Yes, Jersey Boys was amazing, wasn't it? I loved so many old shows - Cheers, Seinfeld, The Brady Bunch and Little House on the Prarie when I was a kid. Love the Goldbergs! I don't watch as much TV these days though. Fun post!

  21. This is so fun Stacey. This is a great way to have us see how much we have in common with each other about other things beside decor ideas. I am amazed at how much you and I answered these questions alike.
    Fun fun fun.
    Happy Tuesday.

  25. I like a lot of the same things you do, especially your favorite books. I love and have read everything by Fannie Flagg and Maeve Binchy! Not sure about the Milk Duds in the popcorn though. I love each one separately....maybe I will have to try it!

  26. Hey love!
Tell me true, will Chaser make me cry? Want to be prepared. I love dogs and dog stories but only those where the dog lives happily ever after forever. My daughter and I saw Mama Mia together and enjoyed it. I am thinking there was a second one I haven't seen and now this third one coming out. Am I right? Book Club sounds very good and if you haven't seen Tully...GO!!!

  27. This was such a fun post! I totally laughed out loud at "If there's a terrible virus that might take out mankind - we watch it!" Yesterday we spend more on food at the movies than the movie itself. Ugh! Here's to purse goodies!
