Target Fashion Finds Under $10

Good morning and happy May 10th. Today I'm joining other thrifty friends to share some ideas for life that cost $10 or less. We have a variety of subjects today so you'll definitely want to visit each Ten on the 10th blogger to see what they have to share.

With the seasons changing we are moving right on into summer here in Texas. It was 93 earlier this week! I decided to take myself to Target and see what I could add to my wardrobe that might cost less than $10 and if I'm being honest, I was looking for sweatproof cooler pieces.

My life is very casual and I often find that I have plenty of cute blouses and tops in my wardrobe but I need some good ol' t-shirts.  I found these soft cotton t-shirts that should fit the bill perfectly and they were priced at 3/$20. Can a plain t-shirt be cute? Sure!! Tie a knot, add accessories, and you're set!

Let's talk about summer shoes. I love cute sandals and tennies and have added some of those to my wardrobe recently. However, nothing takes the place of flip-flops! We have a constant conversation here at our house about flip-flops. My hubby hates them. I love them!  Flip-flops come in so many cute patterns, they are cheap, and they just slip right on and off. If they get muddy while I'm working in the flower beds, it's ok! They just rinse off in the water hose. What do you think? Do you like flip-flops? These were each $3.99.

Last but not least, I found these neat earrings at Target. I'm pretty sure I saw something very similar to these on a popular accessories website. Isn't it fun when you can admire clothing or accessories that are expensive and then find them for a better price? My thought is that costume jewelry is costume jewelry. Why spend $40 on a pair of earrings that have no more actual value than my $7.99 Target earrings? These are lightweight and nickel free - they are also fun!!

Now let's play with these pieces a little and see what can mix and match... I may pull an item or two from my closet.

Starting out with soft colors. The white t-shirt is perfect for these coral shorts and the flip-flops are multicolored fun. The blue shirt is paired with crisp, white jeans and another pair of flip-flops. This summer I will turn 55 and I'm welcoming the return of knotted t-shirts! Pretty sure I wore those in high school! I would definitely give this one a little knot right at the bottom.

Style on a budget - Red t-shirt styled two ways.

A red t-shirt is a must for summer. In this first outfit, I went a little crazy pulling out a sash belt that I've had probably 12 years. I used to wear this belt to work as a teacher. Don't you love red, white, and black together?  In the right outfit, I paired the red shirt with blue and white striped shorts. Let me just say that I'm of the age where shorts give me the ugh!! feeling but it's just so hot here they are a must.

The left outfit above consists of pale pink jeans, blue t-shirt, and flip-flops. Pretty perfect for a day at home. The second outfit is my oldest shorts. They are ancient khakis from Eddie Bauer...probably 10 years old. Every time I put this pair of shorts on, I swear to myself that I won't leave the house because they are so schleppy! But you know what? I do it every single time.

I could keep going and going with this mix and match game!

What other fashions or accessories can we add that might jazz up our summer wardrobes for $10 or less? Hair accessories...the perfect nail polish...hats? I'd love to know what you would choose. :)

Please visit my Ten on the 10th buddies. There's so much talent in this sweet group of ladies!

  1. Stacey you are my kind of girl! Let me know how these T's work out. I used to start out the summer season by buying several of Targets t's, however this year they changed their T brand and I wasn't sure whether I would like them. I love flip flops! these are so cute. And earrings.... Target has some of the cutest that I've found. I also love their Sugar Fix brand earrings too!

  2. Love these finds! The universal thread tees I'm loving so far. I was happy the white one didn't require a tank underneath. These flip flops are super cute too .

Hope you are having a super week!

  4. Great buys!! I love how you showed us how you will put the outfits together....the soft colors are so pretty but I adore red white and black together!! The earrings are just adorable! I am with your husband, not a fan of flip flops, but I do have a few pairs (I think it is the sound they make when walking)....and they are quick to slip on...oh, and cheap, too!

  9. Stacey love the colors of these tees. So pretty and summer bright. I am a flip flop girl from May through the first frost!!!! So I love these styles and colors. Nothing like a fun pair of flip flops to get your day going.

  10. Ok I adore your little outfits. Perfect for a hot summer and a casual style. I need to go back and check out those little tees. I was at Target yesterday and bought the cutest little slip on sandals with tassels. I love flip flops for all the same reasons. Bring back knots I say... I have little holes in all my tees right where the button is. I think it is from wearing them not tucked in these days. I might just have a bit of middle aged pudge that makes that button stick out:)
Knots would definitely take care of that. I just might be bold and bring it back TODAY.
    Cute ideas. Thanks!

  11. Oh and yes I know what you mean about shorts. I am beginning to get little veins on my ankles that are just not too flattering, but shorts are a must. It is simply too hot in July and August to wear pants.

  13. Great post. I am need of owning more casual tops too. I love tees too. I was in heaven last summer when Walgreen had a wonderful sale on their casual flip flops. I bought some of the cutest ever from Walgreen's. Thing thing about tees is that we can dress them up or dress them down. Loved this post. Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  14. Flip flops are a must at the beach! We probably have a dozen pair around here. I haven't been to Target in years. I might have to pop by, great finds!

  15. Jolly good mixing and matching, Stacy! I love your finds and combos. Wish I could wear flippies for more than just short jaunts, these are super cute! I love Target. One of my fave stores ever!

  16. Shorts definitely give me the 'uggghhh' feeling but thankfully I can get away with capris pretty much all summer here! If we do get a hot day a nice cool lightweight maxi skirt does the trick!

  17. What fun pieces for summer. I am all about a cute plain tee, and adding accessories. And, I live in flip flops every day during the summer.

  18. I would love to have a closet full of cute flip flops but I just can't wear them with no support in them at all. I do have a bunch of cute orthotic Vionic flip flops but they are not under $10! I think costume jewelry and t-shirts are my go-to summer outfit....no shorts for me either!

  19. Stacey you have been hard at work. I think those tops are adorable and I see that they are also cotton which is so important for us ladies of a certain age who sweat a lot. All of the outfits you've pulled together are adorable and I could easily see myself wearing anything with blue.

  20. Everything you bought is so cute--love the colors.

I always start out the summer getting sandals and soon I'm in flip flops everyday!!

  21. Ahh, Stacey, you and I could be sisters! Your choices are all and any I would choose too. I love my flip flops, and that's what I like gardening in best of all, lol. I buy mine at the Dollar Tree for yard purposes! Sometimes they're wonky on the straps, but hey, the part of hosing them off is what keeps me going back.
I'm also an Eddie Bauer girl at heart. I love it when Sam's gets their new stock in for both spring and winter. I have so many! And their lightweight vests with pockets until it gets hot like it's already doing now.
As for the shorts....I tend to wear the same, EB cargo style wherever I go (those pockets!), although I tend to wear longer ones (or capris) if going out, but I have really cute Lilly Pulitzer ones that I practically lived in at the beach.
Great, fun post topic! Have a wonderful Mother's Day!

  22. I always end up getting my tees at Target, they are so soft and you can't beat the price! I like flip flops but I can't wear them very long, I just need more support for my feet if I am going to wear them very long. They are great for running outside to do a little gardening or a quick run tot he store though! I'm a casual girl through and through so all of these are right up my alley :)

  23. Stacey,
Looks like I will be heading to Target. Each year I need to buy new white T-shirts since my cats and I are hard on them. I spill things on them, and the cats leave little holes from their claws loving on me.

    Great $10 finds this month...

  26. What a timely post! I planned to go to Target next week to look for t-shirts! My lifestyle is very causal too, and I love simple tops I can dress up. Love your ideas, Stacey!

  27. It's amazing what you can do with a tee shirt and shorts/jeans with the right accessories. I love the photo with the beachy flip flops! Too cute!

  28. Very cute outfits. T-shirts are always comfortable, especially the newer ones that don't inch their way up. Happy Mother's Day.

  29. Next time I am in Target I need to check out those tees. I'm always looking for lightweight colorful shirts to pair with shorts and jeans.

    Thanks for the tip.

  30. You found some really cute things! I don't go to Target as much as I used to. I shop online if something catches my eye. Going to the store every week was beginning to be so expensive.

  31. There's nothing like a good t-shirt! You got some cute ones! And it's the same thing here...my hubby hates flips and I love them! I seriously wear them year round. :)

  32. So many things in this post I like!!! First, I love fashion but I love fashion within my budget even better. I also love RED and BLACK together (red being my favorite color). I really do like those earrings and I LOVE LOVE LOVE flip flops!!! I usually buy a new pair or two at JCPenney's each year (on sale for $5). Sadly, I don't live near a TARGET but I'm off to check them out online!
