First Friday Home Tour Featuring My Thrift Store Addiction

Happy Friday Friends! Here we are already on Friday, March 2, 2018 and it's time for a First Friday Home Tour. It's time to welcome spring and to be inspired by this beautiful home which belongs to Cecilia of My Thrift Store Addiction.  I know you will love her feminine, colorful style and the special story that goes along with her home and blog.  I'll let Cecilia do the talking but as you go along, highlighted words are hyperlinks to take you to a special post at My Thrift Store Addiction.

A little about my home...

As a single parent raising three kids, it was a dream come true when we were blessed to have our home built in the small rural town of Kerrville. Almost twenty years later, my home is a constant reminder of answered prayers and God's faithfulness. I adore decorating and gardening and single parenting taught me to do both, on a budget. My home is furnished with pieces that I have collected from thrift stores and yard sales, and created as my own.

Stuck in a Rut? 7 Ways to Create a Beautiful Home on a Budget

One day I had an ah-ha moment that I could move the faux fireplace that had been centered on my living room wall for 15+ years to the opposite wall in my dining room.  I couldn't believe how it opened up the space and added to both my living room and dining rooms. In this post you can also read the story of the hunt for a vintage sofa and how I found two of them in one year.

How to Stencil a Chalkboard

I may be creative but I am completely challenged when it comes to drawing or anything freehand so I shared on the blog how I stenciled a $1 thrift store chalkboard to create a scripture garden to brighten the winter months.

You can tell that I love pastels! This romantic picnic style tablescape started with a yard sale quilt but was created almost exclusively with thrifted finds.

Hello Spring Blooming Dress Form

I've named my dress form Juliet, and love to play dress up with her for the different seasons, but her blooming dress last spring is perhaps my favorite. She was another thrift store find and featured in Country Sampler Christmas Decorating 2017.

When we moved into our new home, there was no landscaping - just dirt and rocks. The garden was a labor of love, that started with the help of my kids when they were still home. I began growing herbs because that was the only thing that the overpopulated deer in the area wouldn't eat! Eventually, I learned to use them as landscaping and they grew into my business, Secret Garden Herbs.  My garden is full of repurposed treasures and has become a favorite gathering place for celebrating graduation parties, baby showers and most recently, a last minute wedding reception.

I knew that my son, Jared was planning to marry his sweet girlfriend, Maria. She's from Spain and he visited in January to receive her family's blessing. However, they both insisted on a quiet no-frills ceremony with the date yet to be announced. Then Favorite Son of mine, decided Valentine's Day would be the perfect date and gave me all of a week's notice! Even so, I was able to plan a last minute mini reception in the garden that was simple and sweet and very special. I adore his new bride, by the way. :)

Cecilia, I am honored to share your home that has been built and decorated with your loving hands over the years. It's gorgeous and so inspiring!
