Home Tour Featuring Creating This Life

Good morning! I'm a week late but I'm happy to present you with our First Friday Home Tour featuring Julie of Creating This Life. She has created such a beautiful home with items collected over time.  Julie is a fan of estate sales and finds the best things from furniture to unique accessories. She has a love affair with her home that makes me know we could be good friends. Enjoy!

My husband, Tom, and I are empty nesters who live in the Kansas City area (on the Kansas side of the state line if you speak KC :)). Our kids are Lindsey, who is 26 and lives in KC, and Grant, who is 22 and is a senior at St. Louis University.

Tom and I both love old houses and we chose this house because, despite the fact that it was only 9 years old when we bought it, it had a lot of character. The couple who built it included things like pocket doors, transom windows, a brick porch, two fireplaces, and lots of built-ins.

We loved all those details and felt like the house had an old soul, even if it was fairly new.

Through the process of making all the big decisions that come with remodeling, I discovered that I was attracted to a very timeless, classic style.  My favorite houses always feel more collected than decorated, so I strive for that feeling too.

I enjoy mixing old and new.  I go to a lot of estate sales and antique malls looking for interesting finds, and I love that the internet has made it easy to find things too.

All of this is a work in progress and I try to enjoy the process as much as the result.  I'm so inspired by the things other people are doing and sharing through blogs, Pinterest and Instagram.

Thank you, Stacey, for letting me share my little corner of the world here!
