Dreaming and Planning

Happy Monday Y'all! You all have been so sweet to congratulate us on building a house.  Last week we were notified (sooner than expected) that the lot prep had begun. So we popped right out there and took a video. Do you follow me on Instagram? You can see it there.
Would you like to see some of the things we are dreaming of and planning?  First let me tell you the style we are shooting for....think Southern Living with a little French farmhouse cottage charm for good measure. Do I know what that means exactly? Nope! But I'll know it when I see it.
We are definitely using this brick which is a blend of red, gray, and brown. We love the traditional look of it. We are mixing this stone, called Buff Lueders, on the front of the house. We will have shutters on the windows which will be painted Sherwin Williams Tricorn Black.

We had Tricorn Black on the shutters and front door of our Oklahoma house and loved it. Speaking of the front door, we are getting this one in mahogany but painted Tricorn Black. Love!!

Those are the only decisions we've made so far. The rest is icing on the cake. Want to see some of the items on my Pinterest board?
The lighting is something I'm extremely excited about since it's the jewelry of the home. There are so many beautiful choices! What would you choose? Bronze, brass, nickel?  My thoughts are all over the place with this category.

How about the kitchen. Would you choose white or stained cabinets? White for me please.
This one stops me in my tracks with the white cabinets, granite, and that light fixture. I swoon!
Birds of a Feather
This really is a dream come true for us. We are getting our little piece of Texas with a house to last for years.  Thanks for following along with this process which should take about 6 months.

  12. Stacey, I'm excited for you, and a huge congrats on already selecting the exterior finishes - BIG decisions! We are in the midst of trying to decide on bath remodel finishes, and it has my head spinning. We're also going for some kitchen updates, so that ramps up the pain for me. :/

  14. So excited for you we had our second home built and I remember making those choices, it was fun! Lamps I would probably go black or rustic remember I'm a farm girl. So with that being said because living in the country is different than city life. The white cabinets are pretty but remember you'll be cleaning them all the time. White and real country living doesn't mix. Maybe a soft light gray? But in all honesty I love natural wood grain and would probably go that route. A White wash stain might be fun too? Again this is coming from a practical farm girl. Hugs and excited to follow your journey.

  17. What fun! I love all your choices and I'd be going in circles trying to decide on finishes too. I painted my cabinets white at the farm which I love but ended up painting the lower cabinets grey because of having to constantly wipe them down (dogs...need I say more?). I love the two tone look! Go with what you love. I'm going to pop over to Instagram and go watch your video!
    Happy Thanksgiving!

  23. Southern, French, farmhouse, cottage, charm . . . five of my favorite words! It sounds really wonderful, Stacey. I really love that first pendant - I wish I had seen that when we were looking for a light for our front porch!
