One Morning in the Garden

Before it slips away, I want to record how beautiful this summer has been.
Sunshine and pretty of rain have made for the best gardening combination I can remember in a long time...or maybe ever.

Gaura Sparkle White

Red Stem Thalia

Henry Duelberg Salvia

Hyacinth Bean Vine

Purple Fountain Grass

Knockouts

Adding the pond this year was the best thing we could have done.
The whole environment changes when you add a water feature.
Dragonflies, birds, frogs, snakes - they all come for a visit and they are welcome here.

Mossy rocks and water lilies in the pond.

Water lilies.

  6. A beautiful post, Stacey. I do think morning is one of the most precious times of day in the garden. You are so right about the new environment a pond brings and it's amazing how quickly it happens. Makes me wonder where all these creatures were before the pond showed up. The amount of dragonflies in our garden this year has been awesome. I just wish they would stop for a photo op.

  23. That is so lovely, you are a master gardener for sure, and your water feature is amazing!!! The yards are beautiful this year since we have actually had rain. If we get an early frost, the tree colors will be spectacular!!
Speaking of snakes, I went to get our wood cart the other day to dry some grass for fall decorating. When I turned it over, an 18" +/- garter snake was eyeballing me...he rode along to the tall grass patch, where he slithered out to investigate. I guess he has been living under there since I put it up in the spring. He had lots of things to eat in the wood pile, and running water nearby.
    Blessings to you,
    J
