June Garden Party with Friends

garden party, lotus, ponds,

Good morning!

Can I talk about this one plant today?
Many times a certain plant has stolen all of my attention and love.
Right now this lotus has me mesmerized!

The leaves are huge and sturdy but dazzling at the same time.
The bloom reminds me of a peony but it has an amazing yellow pod in the middle.

The sun beats down on this water plant and it absolutely glows.
Some groups consider the water lotus to be sacred because it rises from the muck of  rivers and streams with strength and beauty.  Parts of this plant are edible.

This one lotus has added so much to the pond. We love it!
And I love this goofy man who does goes along with my ideas.
(You may have seen this picture on Instagram)
The lotus is so large that he had to climb in to put it in place.
No leaning over to place this plant!

  35. Your Lotus looks gorgeous!

From the flower alone. I would have never known it isn't a peony. Love its leaves and I go google to see if a lotus could survive in our zone. :)

  38. Stacey, I literally laughed out loud at that photo of your husband placing that plant! That's hilarious (misc musing material there!). I can see why you are so fascinated with the lotus bloom. I think it is too, and I was pretty excited when I saw your first bloom. As a gardener, I know that feeling in general, but I've never had a lotus plant, just love the history associated with it, and who can deny that beauty?!

A lady in our church raises lotus in the creek behind her house...she brings me the pods to dry and play with. I have used them in every décor including on my Christmas mantel!! They are wonderful and last forever!
Hope you are having a great day...three day weekend ahead...woohoo!!!
