Welcoming March with a Dogwood Wreath

The seasons are definitely changing here in Texas and I love it!
As the metamorphosis takes place there are signs every day.
In the spring, we see plants and tree greening...we smell flowers blooming and skunks stinking...
we see rambunctious baby cows in all the pastures... and cute new clothes in the stores...

The new PB catalog comes in the mail... yes, I did squeak that in there.

Well that's a sign, right?

Last week my PB catalog came and I spotted the prettiest wreath made of dogwood blossoms.  $99.00 people. Can you imagine? Who does that?

Dogwood wreath handmade at Poofing the Pillows.

I was inspired to make this one with 1/2 price stems from the local craft store.
The cost about was $10 because I reused a wreath from an oldie but goodie
as instructed by my friend Kim at Exquisitely Unremarkable.

The results make me smile. :)

  2. Pretty! I was just telling Mr. Comforts that it is time to take the winter wreath off the door and make a spring one.

  4. PB's prices can be so outrageous. I love to shop there, but always check the clearance dept first and use a coupon. I love that you made your own. It feels more rewarding to make something just as beautiful.

  10. Well, I'm certainly not one to spend $99 on a wreath, no matter what its provenance! Yours is very pretty, and you have that special satisfaction that comes from making something lovely while being thrift. Win-win!

  16. Love it! Such a pretty way to welcome spring to your home. Isn't spring time in Texas glorious? We drove out to my mom's the other day and saw so many brand new baby cows on the many farms we passed by. So cute!

  17. Love the wreath ~ but $99.00 is ridiculous! Besides, making wreaths is fun and it gives us all an excuse to hit the craft stores ;-)

  21. Your wreath looks lovely and the $89 savings (plus tax and shipping!)has to make you smile. I agree, who spends that much money on a wreath?! What is making me smile? The thought that our temps are supposed to be in the 50's and 60's next week! We are getting another 6-9 inches of snow tonight, :(. All I have to do is close my eyes and hold out for next week!

  33. Dogwoods are perfect for a Spring wreath! I love it. I would never pay $99 for a wreath either. Pottery Barn can be so expensive. I prefer their outlet or sales.
