Wonderful is My Word for 2016 :)

Wonderful is my word for 2016 at Poofing the Pillows
I've never chosen a word of the year like some people do so this is a first!
I'm a New Year's Resolution kind of girl because I love a fresh start and goal setting.
This year I have a few resolutions but decided to go with a word of the year too.

One word is easy and frames your thinking if you choose carefully.

Let me explain why I chose this word... life is easy and flows smoothly some days
and we say everything is wonderful. Right?

Other days are hard. HARD
The car won't start...someone hurts our feelings... sometimes people are very sick...
unspeakable things happen in the world and get plastered on TV.

There is always something wonderful if you look for it.
I'm not trying to be Pollyanna about this. I believe this is true with every ounce of my being.

Wonderful is an optimistic word.
Wonderful describes the color of a blue sky the day after a Texas tornado.
Wonderful is the last piece of Christmas cheesecake found in the fridge.
Wonderful is an unexpected rose blooming in winter.
Wonderful is a kitty sleeping peacefully all day.
Wonderful is knowing someone loves you.
Wonderful is everywhere.

Spotting wonderful isn't hard for me but I've noticed that the more you find it...
the more it's there for you to see. I want to grab all of it!

That's my word this year.

What's yours? I'd love to know.

Louis Armstrong is wonderful after all these years. ♥
Oh how I love this song.

  1. I love your word Stacey! A few years ago I was surrounded by some very sick family members and for a long time I couldn't see wonderful. Then one day I looked up and noticed the pretty tulips on my table. Yes, there was a lot of sadness and badness going on around me, but that didn't really diminish the beauty of the flowers. I sat down and wrote about it and my blog was born. I have been trying to keep that mindset every day since. I wish you nothing but wonderful all year long! :) Ps...pretty rose!

  2. That is a "wonderful" word Stacey! My word is HAPPY! Happy New Year!

  3. You have a "wonderful" way of looking at the world! I don't have a word for the year yet, but I love the idea.

  4. Precious and "wonderful!" Thanks for reminding us of the postive!

  5. I can never choose just one word, but I love what you have chosen and the outlook on life it stands for. Great choice Stacey!

  6. Stacey,
Oh, how I love the word you have chosen for the New Year!
Wonderful...yes wonderful is all around us and our eyes, hearts and spirits can be trained to see wonderful in the most unlikely places!

    Happy New Year!

  7. Love this Stacey! I was just now working on my Theme for the Year. Right now I'm leaning toward "Productive." I want to accomplish so much this year! But I realize that I need to work on getting things done and not just thinking about them :) How about a Happy, Wonderful, Productive year?!! Happy Monday :) xo!

  8. Great word and great song. Have a wonderful 2016!

  9. I think you chose a great word! Wonderful things are all around us if we just take the time to notice them. :)

  10. I absolutely love your word choice, Stacey...gives you such a great perspective!

  11. I find being optimistic is always the right choice! You are choosing happiness and joy in spite of the hard things we encounter every single day. Wonderful is a beautiful word for 2016!

  12. I think your word truly is "wonderful", and so are you!!!
From my ......ahem......greater age perspective, there are usually good things, even in the bad!
My word for the year is content, and that is just what I strive to achieve...I love my spousal unit, my home, my jobs and my kitty cat, so therefore, in all these things I am blessed!!
    Philippians 4:11
Blessings to you in this nice new year of 2016!

  13. I have never thought about having a word of my year. I love that idea, and now my mind is racing about what my word will be. Last year my challenge was to step out of my comfort zone. It was a concept but not a word. Wonderful is a great word, I am wishing you a wonderful year of wonderful things! Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing at Celebrate Your Story!

  14. I love it! And I use that word a lot so it seems like a natural choice for me. But...I chose balance this year. I'm going to work at being more balanced in my every day life....so that it will be wonderful! heehee! Hugs, Diane

  15. I love your word! Great choice!!

    Big Texas Hugs,
    Susan and Bentley

  16. Great choice for an inspirational word. :)

I hoped over from your comment in my blog and visited a few posts of yours. They make me smile and I like smiling.
    Happy new year!

  17. Hi there, visiting from Make It Pretty Monday! I love the reasons you chose "wonderful." When I journal, I pray about a word each year and this year, the chorus "Oh come let us adore Him," was constantly on my heart. ADORE is mine ;) Blessings, Cecilia

  18. Very wise post! I have never did the word of the year thing but i do think its cool!

  19. I think my word this year shall be MINDFUL. I think it may help me to slow down and live in the moment more. Happy New Year to you, Stacey!

  20. Great word for the New Year!
Thanks so much for sharing at AMAZE ME MONDAY!

  21. Well said! Yes, it is a wonderful world, after all!

  22. Great choice Stacey....I don't really have one word this year....I am going with a "que sera sera" attitude...but if I had to choose one word it would be "live"....to live each day and each moment with joy and to the fullest.

  23. Happy New Year, Stacey!
    Love it!
My word is "Beautiful", has always been... lol
    Wishing you a beautiful day,
    Linda at Beautiful Ideas

  24. Stacey, I love choosing One Word vs resolutions. I've been doing this for at least 4-5 years and I got started with a group of artist friends. My word is CONTENTMENT. In my blog I mentioned that my word last year was Focus, and I failed miserably at it. So I've decided I need to write this word down and post it in a few locations, including the car I drive, just so I can focus on that one word.

  25. What a "wonderful" word to set for 2016. I'm still working on my word...could it be procrastination or indecision? Ha! When I was a single mom, many years ago, I tried to teach my girls to find at least one good thing in a day. Is three words acceptable?

  26. Omg! This IS MY MOST FAVORITE SONG. EVER !!!! It's makes me cry everytime! Thank you! For sharing and Wonderful Is in so many daily things!! Happy Healthy New Year! To each and avery one of us!!!!

  27. OMG !!! Where did you get that sign!!! It's a wonderful world above the bed! Please email me and let me know! Thanks! Cindy

  28. I think this is an awesome word for the year! And you are right, in the middle of chaos, heartbreak, sadness, devastation and illness, there is always something wonderful that shines through it all! Hugs!

  29. I love your word and hope you don't mind if I use it!

  30. I love the reasons you chose your word. What a good reminder to look for the wonderful in all things. My word is Prepare. We are planning on moving in a year so I must "prepare" by purging and refreshing spaces.

  31. What a great word of the year. I usually do a word and decided to start the year out with a few decisions instead...I think we may have flipped places.

  32. YOU have a wonderful word dear Stacey! My word is Shine. I haven't blogged about what is behind that choice yet but it will be upcoming. Happy New year friend and may 2016 be more amazing than you could ever anticipate.

  33. I have a little quote on a shelf in the dining room right now that read, "Life doesn't have to be perfect to be WONDERFUL!" It is so easy to look at what is missing or what we don't have, but that doesn't mean things aren't wonderful.

I don't have a word for the year, but I am using that quote for both Steve and myself this year. He tends to be a half-empty kind of guy and I keep telling him that his life is pretty wonderful!

Thanks for sharing at Share Your Cup.

  34. Hi Stacey,
I Love your word! I have been seeing quite a few bloggers picking words...I think I would have a hard time picking just one word...I would have a long list! ;)
I so agree that there is something wonderful in everything!
    Happy almost weekend!
    Hugs, Kimberley

  35. Thanks for the reminder to choose a word for 2016.
This tradition has slipped away from me recently.
    This year will be acceptance

  36. Stacey,
Thank you for sharing your word for 2016 (great idea) at my Show and Share Party.

  37. I found you on my mom's site [mountainmama!] and I think your site is so cute, I especially love your header and the bright colors! Your blog screams wonderful! =P

I also love this song, and Louie Armstrong. So relaxing- such perfect sunday night music. Or monday morning, because it calms me at work while i am busy!

  38. Came over from Art and Sand to see your sign. We have that CD, bought it for my hubby
as he loves that song, and called my attention to it, and I love it too.
What a great word for the New Year.........and even with all the trouble in the world
it is still a wonderful world........

My word for this year is perseverance, as I have been trying to get an etsy shop off
the ground but life keeps getting in the way it seems. So my goal is to try and do
at least one or two things a week towards it......as I am so close to my goal......

    Blessings, Nellie
