For Love of Ordinary Days

Nothing extraordinary going on around here in the last few days.
 And you know what?
I love it!

Sometimes life can be so crazy and busy that when ordinary hits
it can feel a little boring to this busy body.
Sometimes it takes a little adjustment in heart and attitude
to realize that every day doesn't have
projects or major to-dos.

So lately it's been a pimiento cheese sandwich with a nap afterwards kind of days.

Vacuuming the floors and shining the counter tops kind of days.

Looking at old magazines and drinking iced tea kind of days.

How about you?
What are you up to today?

  1. Stacey, I love days like that! Can't wait to get back home and actually have some down time, now that the nest is empty again! Enjoy it and make the most of it!

  3. I LOVE ordinary days! In fact, one of my favorite quotes is from Anne of Green Gables..."The nicest and sweetest days are not those on which anything very splendid or wonderful or exciting happens but just those that bring simple little pleasures, following one another softly, like pearls off a string." Isn't that lovely? I printed it out and have it framed in my dining room. :) Anyway, I love that framed nest you have and that red tray is wonderful! Enjoy your evening!

  4. I did the floors today too, it's been stormy for the past few days. I love the leopard print cushion you have there and the tray...enjoy your evening!

  5. I love those kind of days too. Today I got my hair cut. Our a/c needed fixing and that got done, then I made fajita's for dinner. Now my house smells like a Mexican restaurant, lol.

  6. It's nice to have time to do everything and feel a little caught up. We've been on the go a lot but I'm taking time to sit on the balcony and walk on the trails, too. Feels good! Hugs!

  8. Ah, the blessings of an ordinary day!! I seldom get one of those lately. My husband is ill and my daughter will be having surgery soon. Praise God for his faithfulness in the ordinary, extraordinary and just plain TIRING kind of days!! My happiest days are the ones where I can stay home, no make up and wearing my most comfy (albeit UNATTRACTIVE!!) clothes!!

  9. I am between projects and I need to make the 40 minute drive to the nearest Annie Sloan dealer so I won't get started on my next project for a few days. But, I am doing a photo shoot at an amazing beach house tomorrow. I can't wait to show everyone my friend's amazing house.

  10. I too, am enjoying the last few days of summer, and I must thank you for inspiring. Sometimes, I am too caught up in my lists, that I forget to take time to enjoy. Thank you!

  11. When we have a string of busy days I do find I miss our "sit time". We do all need those quiet moments to regroup and re-energize.

  12. LOL I swear I have vacuumed almost every day since the dogs went into full shed / so that is certainly ordinary for me! :) And not long after I am done, the cat will come through, the dog will wrestle her to the ground and then HER hair will be on the floor. :)

  13. I love days like that. Today I should be washing my floors and doing laundry, but I'm having a terrible time pulling myself away from the waterfall.
After reading your comment I remembered that you did have a beautiful pond in your previous house. I'd love to see it again. Do you remember which of your posts you featured it in? You are so right about attracting wildlife. This morning I relocated my hummingbird feeder to the edge of the pond and instantly saw a hummer feeding from it. The dragonflies seem to love the water too. I'm anxiously awaiting the first frog, but am secretly hoping the snakes stay away :).

  15. I love how you described your days...the sandwich and nap. That's very much me in the winter or on rainy days.

I am finishing up the cleaning out of the office and everything that's bagged up all over my house will go out to the trash tonight. Then I can breathe again!!

  16. Stacey,
Sorry to keep leaving pond comments here. I can't seem to find your e-mail address.
Thank you so much for the links. I read them all and your pond was gorgeous!! We are considering the addition of fish next. Would you recommend that? Also, did you have to do much maintenance to keep it clean?
Forgive me for all the questions. I don't personally know anybody with a pond and am just curious. Thanks.

  17. I've been playing lots of tennis and traveling to see my youngest grandson.

Like you, I rarely have those slow kinda days, but they sure are nice every now and then.

    Hugs,

  20. My, it does sound calming. Too many times I set magazines aside waiting for the right time. I guess now the time is right with all this late Summer heat.

  22. "In between days" are great to catch your breath. Ripened peaches are waiting for me in the fridge, so maybe a little baking will be happening. Maybe. :)

I need a few days like that... between remodeling and babysitting grand children, I am worn out. And school starts in a week and a half. Thank you for your kind words on my living room. You are always so thoughtful. I would love to help you with your master bedroom but you always do such a great job.

Thank you again, You are such a great friend.

  28. Stacey, I'm between projects, so I've been loafing the past few days. Going for walks, browsing through the quilt store, taking country drives with my hubby and eating ice cream cones. I'm ready to create again. Have a great day!
