Nesting on the Patio

Yesterday we had a wonderful downpour of rain.

I think we got at least 2" over the course of two or three hours.

(Precious nest letters ordered from vintage541.etsy.com)

We were expecting really high winds so I brought all the pot plants in.

Then when the high winds weren't too bad (thankfully) I carried them all
back outside to get a good soaking.

Today is beautiful, hot, and steamy.

Summer is on the way!

We spend a lot of time on this area of the patio.

We just got the furniture a few months ago and it has given us the
perfect place to have coffee in the mornings.

We are nerdy bird watching kind of people. :)

We see all kinds of birds including pterodactyls.

Really they are herons and cormorants but I call them pterodactyls
because when they come flying in they always make me think of Jurassic Park.

Today I'm making myself not watch the news of my Oklahoma.

Our friends and family are all fine.

I hope you will consider making a donation to one of the organizations helping with recovery.

  2. I really like that wheelbarrow with the plants. You've decorated your porch so nicely. I'm totally in love with that metal tray on your table. :)I'm now thinking I need to get a lantern to use outside on the coffee table too. Looks like you have a nice place to relax. :)

  4. The patio/yard area look great. You will love that furniture, ours is very similar and it holds up really well!!

I collect little fat birds which I scatter about the yard. Love to sit out back and watch all the different, real, ones. We have doves that nest every year, the babies are too cute. This year we have a different type building in one of our hanging plants.
Will think of you with my next morning of backyard coffee :-)

  11. We had the rain today, it came down in sheets! And more predicted. I love when my lawn and flowers get watered by nature.

I love your patio, it looks so relaxing! I felt the same way you feel about herons the first time I saw pelicans flying! :)

  13. Love your new patio and all the pretties...that is a perfect place to have morning coffee or enjoy the evening hours. It's been a rough week here ...of course I don't have to tell you that. Glad all your loved ones are okay. We are going to Moore tomorrow to help serve food to the workers and residents. I turned off the tv today too and went outside and worked in the garden as we are getting more rain tomorrow. Anyway it was therapeutic and helped clear my mind of the sadness. Glad you are getting all cozied up in your new place!

  16. This time last year, I had just returned from my one and only visit to Texas - Dallas. We went downtown to a well known street for dinner and it was a totally happening spot. We were in sundresses with no sweaters in the evening.

  23. Your porch looks lovely and inviting. I sure understand about bringing plants in when the winds pick up. We had stronger winds earlier this week so I was busy doing the same thing.
    Have a wonderful weekend!

  24. Your porch sitting area is so nice. I would sit out there with my coffee too. I think it's fun to bird watch. Sounds like you have more interesting birds to see than I do. I don't blame you for turning off the news right now. Sometimes, it can be so depressing. I was saddened to hear about the tornadoes that demolished that area. I'm always amazed at some peoples resilience after going through something like that. I don't know if I would have that perspective if it happened to me.

  30. LOL, We're nerdy bird watching people too, and I had to laugh at the pterodactyl comment. I thought that the first time I saw a heron fly. There is one on the lake at the park near us, and I love to see it. I hope it has a friend, but I've only seen him or her, which ever it is. Hope you have a great Memorial Day weekend.
