I'm So Glad

So glad I didn't hesitate, that is!

Last week, Debra at Bungalow posted this gorgeous tole tray for sale on her blog. Now usually I'm the kind of girl who has to ponder things but this time I jumped on it. The tray is gorgeous and absolutely perfect for my kitchen corner. Thank you Debra!

I'm also trying my best to be glad for more snow. It's coming down again. :)

This morning I started tutoring at my old school. It will be an hour or two per day for the next two months. It's always fun to go back and be with the kids and teachers. Have I ever told you how much I love school?

  1. It's very satisfying to see the lightbulbs go on right above their little heads when they've learned something isn't it! I love the reading program I volunteer with at the kids' school...it's always a sweet part of my week.
Lovely tray! glad you pounced on it!

  2. Yes, the snow came in here - melted - and has stopped...just great moisture that way.

The tray just looks right at home there in your little corner.

What grade level are you tutoring? Were you a teacher at one point?

    Enjoy the week.

  4. Love the tole tray. I am the opposite of you, Stacey. Very impulsive. And I would have jumped at this. It's beautiful.

It looks like we are just going to have to put up with the snow. We have had it going right in to April. At least the past two days have been sunny!

I'm so glad you have a chance to tutor. I would love to go back to work just part time, but there is nothing available, especially part time. I was a paralegal in downtown Chicago. Even part time, it was a 20 minute train commute and 15 minute walk one way. Ugh!

Have fun at your part time tutoring job. I LOVE my part time job (3 hours a day) and I hope I don't have to go back full -time for a long, long, long time!!

  35. Beautiful tray.

I'm a teacher too. I have taught for 25 years. Home sick today though. Have been feeling a little burned out lately. I am hoping it is just the winter blues. I need sunshine. How long did you teach? What grades? When did you know it was time to retire?
    Hugs,
    Tara

  36. I love the "spring begins" reminder! Can I last another 39 days? Not sure. :-) I shouldn't complain. At least we didn't get two feet this time like some did. Hope you're having a good week!

  39. I love tole trays, I have about 16 of them and I have never seen the one you just got.

About that snow, over the weekend we got 24 to 26 inch and it's snowing again here in MD, calling for another foot. I'm so over the snow, but I guess if it's going to be so clod it might as well snow.

  42. Stacey, most of my tole trays came from auctions. I have bought 2 from ebay, if shopping ebay ask questions. I go to actionzip.com and if I see a tole tray at an auction close to me I'll either go to the auction if I have time or call and let a phone bid. You can get them at auction anywhere from 5$ to 75$ it's a hit and miss on price at auction, I don't like to pay more than 50$, but most of mine have been ALOT less.
I owned a vintage home decor shop for the last 8 years ( I closed it last year) so auctions for me was a must go. Hope this helps, Happy Hunting.

  46. Stacey,
No wonder we get on so well! Just today, I am NOT kidding I dug out a green toile tray and tucked it in a kitchen corner. Now I will admit, your's is much prettier!

I love school too! I am getting ready to do a 4 week substitute job in 1st. grade. I am soooo ready to have my own classroom, this recession has kept teachers from retiring so those jobs are pretty scarce around here!

    Tutoring will be great!
