Musical Memories

In about 1978, I was in high school and this senior with red hair asked me to go to a Maynard Ferguson concert at Six Flags Over Texas. I had never heard of Maynard Ferguson but I wanted to go out with him - he was a senior after all. Also you have to know that we were "band nerds" and I loved music.

That concert was something I will never ever forget. I was absolutely mesmerized by that trumpet. I remember the goosebumps and tears. Have you ever experienced music like that?

While Maynard was playing Maria on the stage other trumpet players came out from behind the crowd and we were surrounded by the music. I still get the same feeling when I listen to this song. I hope you like it - if not don't tell me. :)

No clue about the red head!

  1. I graduated high school in 1975. I had a baby in 1974, so my daughter was at my graduation. We grew up together.

  3. A few years ago our church choir presented 'My Utmost for His Highest'. After the 2nd or 3rd song tears were streaming down my face. It was an emotional & spiritual experience.
By the way, there is an award for you on my Sunday post. If you don't want to do the '5 things' post it's alright with me. :>)

  4. Stacey,
That is so funny. I, too, was a band nerd! Totally...I remember Maynard all those years back when I was a senior in 1978! :) Amy

  5. Hey Stacey,
Sorry, I was only 6 years old at the time you were going to see him at Six Flags. lol!
However, I did just now enjoy listening to him playing his trumpet. Seriously...not just saying that.

    Have a great afternoon!

LOL you have such a happy blog. love your target post. in fact, the autumn-shaped cookie cutters on my "easy as pie" post that you commented on, were from target fall clearance a few years ago. hopefully they will have them again! maybe in "seasonal items" take care xo
