Monday Ramblings

Good Morning Girls! Sweet Carol at Carol's Heirloom Collection gave me this tag over the weekend. This is such a sweet award. I guess I'm supposed to tell 5 things that I would really like to do in my lifetime...

1. I really want to see Paula Deen in person. Paul & I want to do a cooking school.

2. I want to see both of my sons happily married and with kids. :)

3. I want to be married 50+ years to Paul.

4. I want to continue learning all sorts of things...keep my brain ticking.

5. I want to be healthy, happy, and surrounded by friends and family.

Now to pass this on. I don't know who has received this so Daphine and An Accomplished Woman I'm handing off to you girls!

Now on to another subject...

For the past two years I had a job which was one that I wanted very much. It turned out to be an absolutely soul stirring stressful thing!! Like have you seen "The Secret Life of Bees"? I'm talking about the sister that absorbed every emotion from the people around her? Well, that's what this job did to me. My supportive husband finally said, "I don't think this is making you happy." So I'm home now taking care of things in the way that we are most comfortable - less money but happier. This is a round about way to get to the holidays..are you still with me?

I'm so excited about the whole holiday season this year!

In preparation for everything I'm going to start some serious housework today. Have you visited The Hyper Homemaker? Oh my goodness, this lady makes me tired just looking at what she does. What I like though is she has a list! You know I like a list. Go check out her Ultimate Fall Cleaning Challenge.

I am not going to attempt to keep up with the daily list but I'm going to try to do everything she listed. Wish me luck!

  1. Love your list of 5, I would love to meet Paula too! Have fun with your housework. I sure have been enjoying housekeeping since I retired from teaching. I was always too tired & stressed to make it a priority.

  2. I just loved your list. I actually have been to Paula's restaurant twice. One time they said, "Oh, she just left 5 minutes ago, or you could have met her!" disappointed.

I am glad that you were able to stop doing a job that was causing you a lot of stress. Life is just too short for that! I recently left a job too that just wasn't working out and I am much happier. Here's to a wonderful, restful holiday for you. Amy :)

  3. I am so glad you are home working on the holidays. What fun. I left a terrible job and work at home now. It is soooo much better. You keep me motivated.

  4. Aww thanks!! :) :) And best of luck! I'm sure you'll do a great job! And it's SOOOOOO great after it's all done and you are living in a super clean space! :)

  5. I need to read that blog everyday. I am so happy that you are enjoying your days at home now. That is my goal. I love being home and then maybe I could get everything clean! Twyla

  6. Thanks for the link to the Hyper Homemaker! I need her! :-)

I pray that you enjoy your time at home and that you'll be blessed as you bless your home and family during the holidays.

  7. I love your list. Seeing your kids grown up and married with kids sounds like a wonderful blessing, as is the 50+ years of marriage. I could handle those things too!

  8. I love your list. And good for you, sweetie, money isn't everything! Being happy and healthy counts for much much more.

  9. I'd love to go to Paula Deen's restaurant and meet her, too! :) She's so much fun.

I'm also glad you got to stop doing your stressful job - that's great!

I'll have to check out the fall challenge - I'm having company come soon and need to get started. :)

  10. Time is precious. And the sooner we learn to cut out things that aren't making us happy, the better. I'm all for staying home. It's where I've been happiest, and feel fortunate to be able to still be here, even though my children have long ago grown up. I'm sick and tired of people asking if I ever had a "career" as though I don't currently have one that takes up time just as if I clocked in somewhere every day. Okay, I've said my bit and more. Got a little crabby there...

  11. Oh, I sure hope all your wishes come true!! You deserve them. Now you're going to start cleaning!! Oh, my goodness, I need to do that too. I guess I'd better go and check out the hyper gals blog. lol
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia ;)

  12. Hey lady! Congrats on your award and THANKS for passing it on to me. I will post mine soon. I am so behind on awards!

  14. Hi Stacey ! So glad you stopped by today, and you come again any time!

I need to start cleaning and get ready to drag out the Christmas decorations. I have to put away as much stuff as I drag out. It makes me tired thinking about it. LOL .

  15. Hi Stacy,

thanks so much for visiting and your sweet comments!! and I have to say: Congrats on your new choice!! its a fabulous one! there isnt enough money in the world to make me stressed about things that arent important. :) while its an adjustment ( i've done it myself ) it tends to have a way of working out...Good luck to you! and omg, I cant even visit that site, lol, I'll get "cleaning envy" ;)

    ~ Hugs ~ Cynthia

  16. Good morning, Stacey,
Oh, how fun that you are staying home now. Nothing can get you down faster than a job you aren't happy with. Same thing with work for years and years and hated every single minute of it. Stuck inside, away from a window, just nearly drove me nuts...then...along came sit share play LOVE...and that was the end of my office work, FOREVER. How happy I am now. and I know the same for you.

Now, gotta run over and see how to get my life and cottage CLEAN !!
    love, bj

  17. ooo, and I grew up loving Dean Martin and still do, even tho he is no longer with us. boo hoo...oh, that man could sing...and he had that Million Dollar Personality. I dearly loved his tv, I am going to listen to your music all day...

  18. Stacey,

I came by to say hi and congrats on the award given to you by Daphine. And after reading your post, I see why she says you "keep it real"!

    Great post! Blessings to you!!

  19. Hi Stacey, Thanks for the info, I will check out her blog. Don't wear yourself out cleaning! Been there, done that too many times! However, It does feel good to have a clean house! Nancy

  20. Loved reading your list! I'm not going to even look at what the Hyper Housekeeper has listed because I hate cleaning and just thinking about it makes me tired!!! LOL...I'm glad to hear you are taking the time to enjoy the holidays this year without all that stress in your life :o)
