When the Seasons Mix and Mingle - A Front Porch Tour

Welcome to our front porch! I'm happy to have you here and pleased to be a part of the Fall Festival Blog Hop.

We just moved in three months ago so experiencing fall on the porch of our Forever Home this year is so much fun! I love this little porch because it's the biggest one we've ever had. Why there's even room to sit! Everything is bigger in Texas but not usually front porches.

I've been considering the idea of mixing and mingling lately and I think it applies perfectly to this time of year in north Texas. Our fall is a mix and mingle of seasons with cool temps in the mornings and blazing hot afternoons. We don't have the truly distinct seasons that some of you may have.

Fall mornings call for coffee on the porch with a cozy robe on. We love to watch the way the seasons are changing in nature. We watch the sunrise in the east and listen to the birds as they wake up. Some mornings we get lucky and the owls are still hooting. There's a rooster near here that makes plenty of noise each morning too and we always laugh about that.

Fall afternoons on the porch call for iced tea, flip flops and shorts. Maybe since you're visiting we'll have a slice of Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy Pie while we read a favorite magazine or two.  Our air conditioner is still working its little heart out inside the house and truth be told, we won't stay outside long.  Oh the contradictions!

I was so excited to hang a wreath on our front door for the first time this year.  This one is made up of recycled pieces from wreaths of the past. I've searched our closets for more fall goodies to add to the wreath but when we moved I purged just a little too much and those things are gone! I considered buying more but I'm trying to keep things simple and less cluttered.

My summer plants continue to be beautiful so ferns mingle with pumpkins and mums on the porch. I love the way their textures blend together. Did you know that in Texas our ferns are often perennial? Gotta love that!  I've had Saint Fiacre for many years and found him on one of our trips to the Dallas Arboretum.

I'm so glad you stopped by for a visit to our porch. Please pop over next and visit White Arrows Home and the other bloggers participating in the Fall Festival. You'll definitely be inspired by these welcoming, beautiful porches!

I love how you are settling into your new home. What a comfy, cheery porch. I'll take that morning moment in a comfy robe with good magazines and something tasty!

Love your wreath so much. It's simple and elegant and the ribbon (burlap?) is perfect. I'd say you did a pretty great redo!

I love your porch! Here in Iowa we have had 90 degree weather. I don't like it at all. I love fall and can't wait for the cooler weather to show up.

Love your porch and how the summer ferns mingle very nicely with other fall decor. With your weather, ferns could be perennials. My oldest daughter lives in McKinney.

Love your mix and mingle. Your sign, statue and pillow are great fall touches. Your door is beautiful and a simple wreath does not detract from its beauty. I especially like your pillow. I'm inspired to get busy on my porches. Happy Fall.

What a beautiful and sweet little wreath! Mixing Summer and Fall is what we have to do in the South. We've spent a few Thanksgivings in FL and I always find it strange to see Christmas tress going up and palm trees in the yards.lol Your porch is so beautiful! I'm loving your new house and I know you are too! Nancy

We do have very sharp and distinct seasons, but this year, fall is taking its time. It's 90 degrees here and fall decor just doesn't seem quite right, yet, so I love your idea of mixing and mingling seasons. It works perfectly and looks fabulous. Enjoy that porch and that robe! I bet you're adorable in it! :)

There is nothing quite as pleasant as porch sitting and yours looks dandy. Like you, I've recently re-located and did a bit of purging; I'm trying to be okay with that...lol.

Loving the way the wreath looks on your gorgeous door. And I'm a sucker for some ferns! Happy to be participating in the tour with you!

Hi Stacy

I've been away from blogging for awhile....good to be back

I love your fall porch! Autumn arrived in Colorado with glorious color and even some snow for the high elevations. It's been raining this week, which was also a blessing, as now fire danger is over for our area. Most of my flowers are hanging on till our first frost and we've been seeing many butterflies that are migrating south. I love this time of the year!

Your porch is very welcoming Stacey. I have always loved ferns. They mix beautifully with your fall flowers. Your accent pillow is so cute and I would love to sit, sip, and visit there! Thanks for sharing with SYC.

Beautiful! I love how you mixed your ferns with your pumpkins. So often I see pictures featuring all mums or ornamental cabbage in fall decor, but if my annuals are still alive and healthy, I don't want to toss them till frost.

It looks like you are ready to welcome fall even if the temperatures are not agreeing with you. I am dreaming of cool evenings on the porch myself. Your front door is beautiful! I wish I had the gumption to purge things a little more...since starting to write a blog, it seems I don't want to part with anything I might be able to use again in the future! Happy fall, steamy weather or not!

The wreath is beautiful and love those ferns mixed in with the pumpkins. I'm in Minnesota and I think we got a little feel for a Texas fall. It was in the 90s here last week and sitting on the porch was not happening. Luckily, we're finally cooling down to typical fall temps.

Andrea Hunter said...

Hi Stacey! I love how the ferns mix in with fall decor too! Unfortunately here in Canada they don't survive the winter but I get new ones every spring :) My favourite element is the pretty wreath on your door. Happy Fall!

Hi Stacey,

So many beautifully decorated homes for fall. How fun for you to start with a blank canvas at your new home. I really like that simple fall wreath on the door. I'm planning on something simple and natural for Christmas on a larger scale.

There is so much to love about your porch Stacey! That door is dreamy. I wished we could have had an arched door but they'd o not offer that in our community. Your autumn joy sign is divine.
