First Friday Home Tour Featuring The Sketchy Reader

Welcome to September's First Friday Home Tour! Can you believe it's September? No matter which part of the country you live in, you can't deny that fall is arriving now.

This month we have a very special, colorful home tour coming straight to you from Alabama.

Ricki Jill blogs at The Sketchy Reader and although her focus is primarily books and art, I can never get enough of the peeks of her beautiful home.

Let's start in her dining room. The chandelier is the crowning jewel hanging over the glass table. The feminine touches in this room are timeless.

Here's a little of what RJ had to say...

Hey, Y'all!   I'm so honored that Stacey wants to feature our home on her First Friday Home Tour!  Thank-you, Stacey!

This is the first week in twenty-five years that my husband Trip and I are empty nesters.  We have one daughter Shanley in PhD school at LSU, and the younger daughter Shelley is an art major at Judson College here in Alabama.  We have two Westies named Mustang Sally and Finlay.

I'm an artist, and I prefer oil paints as my medium.  I also enjoy sharing my art journal and other projects on Instagram.  I've been blogging about books, family life, and art since 2010, but with the girls away at school I'm focusing more on books:  not just fiction, but also home decor, holiday, and recipe books.

Look at these stairs!! I remember when Ricki Jill wallpapered her stairs a few years ago. This is the kind of thing you see in magazines and she did it. Swoon!

I love her use of color! Notice her pink island and the other touches of pink around the rooms.

This lovely room is Ricki Jill's art studio. She uses the beautiful armoire to house her supplies. You should visit her post on Where Bloggers Create.

The colors and that swinging bed in the library are magazine worthy. Don't you agree? I could hang out here for hours.
When you visit The Sketchy Reader you'll find book reviews every few days. RJ is a prolific reader. When she's not reading, she's creating her own art.  She has an extensive collection of Mackenzie Childs pieces and displays them perfectly.
Thank you so much Ricki Jill for allowing us to feature your home at Poofing the Pillows. You've reminded me of the JOY of color. :)

I love this tour of Ricki's beautiful home! With today's trends leaning toward everything so white & neutral, it's a breath of fresh air to see color...and color that's been done perfectly. Thanks girls.
