Building a House from the Ground Up Part 2

My how time flies when you are building a house and yet it drags too. I'm sharing a stream of photos from the last couple of months showing the construction progress. This really has been a dream and it's because of our builder and his team. We have had a wonderful foreman who oversees everything that happens. The weather has cooperated and all of this has happened on schedule. What more could you want?

We visit the house each and every day. One day we actually went back and forth three times because there were questions. Luckily we are close by so when they need to ask us something or show us something, we can pop right over.  The beaded light fixture is going in the laundry room. Isn't it fun?!

The outdoor picture that you see below is the back of our lot and it is a mess! There are Mesquite trees everywhere and they are vicious! If you are following on Instagram then you know I stepped on one of those thorns. Let's just say there were bad words yelled into the wind and now I'm ready to cut those trees down.

This nice man has done almost all of the brick and stone work by himself.  He's such a hard worker and I consider him an artist.  He's my hero!

Somewhere in there the granite and backsplash for the kitchen was selected.

So where are we now? Skipping ahead quite a bit from this last picture...they are painting the inside of the house now.  I can't really take pictures in there because the air is thick with paint. I did snap this one quickly. The color is Sherwin Williams Watery and we are so happy with it!!

If you are still with me, thanks! I owe you a Coke. :)  We are so happy to be building this forever house and we count our blessings daily.

Things are coming along! Love all of the stone work. And of course the blue paint cabinets you put on IG today. We stop by our house every day too... they always have questions but don't you think its funny you tell them, for instance, those are meant to be eyebrows not arches probably multiple times and... they still do it wrong. We went on vacation and found they moved our shower drain (HUH?) so looks like someone has to chip concrete... not me! Soon enough you'll get to move in!

This is wonderful, Stacey. How excited you must be with each and every visit. I suspect it's like watching an infant change -- skip a few days and you are missing a major development! I love the archways inside and you're right about the stone work. Beautiful!

Wonderful progress, Stacey, and yes, I really appreciate the good workers too. One thing, though, that just kills me (and I've been dealing with this in my own project daily after the guys leave).....don't you just cringe, knowing the dust and dirt they're trapping (even if they shopvac) behind and under boards, etc.? When I was lamenting over this with my sister (my cleaning up after they cleaned up each day), she said she never dreamed how much she would have to clean a NEW house before moving in - windows, walls, etc.....as the dust continued flying long after the project. Here's hoping you don't have a big job of cleaning when they're all done. Love the light fixture and that SW Watery color!
