What Makes It Feel Like Home?

What makes you feel at home?

Sometimes it's a favorite chair or the perfect coffee cup.

Sometimes it's the puppy who greets you at the door.

Here at Poofing the Pillows, I feel at home with red pitchers, bird nests, and curlicue letters.

We've had a little facelift here in the last 24 hours to reconstruct the old look.

Ahh...now I feel at home. :)

Speaking of homes, here's where we are in the home building process right now.

If you'd like, I'd love for you to follow along on Instagram where I'm sharing a photo every few days.

My new house is in the exact same stage, except it's Florida and the frame is cement block rather than wood :-)

I love following along. We're having temps in the 60's today. It reminds me of Texas and how I miss it so much. Keep the pics coming!!

I'm so excited for you and I know you are thrilled! Watching the work in progress is thrilling and I am sure you are decorating every nook and corner while it is being built! The biggest thing that makes a space feel like home is scent! I always have wallflowers plugged in with scents that are 'home' to me. When I've been away and walk through the door, I feel like the house is giving me a big hug with the special scents I've scattered throughout! Love and hugs!!

I remember both houses I built when they were at this stage. It's exciting and yet disappointing that everything is standing still...getting rained and snowed on...and I used to think how in the world am I going to make that a home? But...when everything came together, I had everything all planned out and just worked my plan. Home to me is cozy. Simple things like a crochet afghan, a special mug to drink my tea or cappuccino from...having the 3 pups...warmth [hmmm, my fireplace, haha!] and having food to make and goodies to bake and friends to share them with!

I love the new look and Oh! The house is coming along so well. Pretty soon it will be "walled in" and change from sticks and nails to a full structure. I can imagine every change is incredibly exciting! Exciting for me to see, too!
