Dreaming and Planning

Happy Monday Y'all! You all have been so sweet to congratulate us on building a house.  Last week we were notified (sooner than expected) that the lot prep had begun. So we popped right out there and took a video. Do you follow me on Instagram? You can see it there.
Would you like to see some of the things we are dreaming of and planning?  First let me tell you the style we are shooting for....think Southern Living with a little French farmhouse cottage charm for good measure. Do I know what that means exactly? Nope! But I'll know it when I see it.

Stunning Thanksgiving Vignettes Day 2

Good morning and welcome to day two of  Thoughts of Home Stunning Thanksgiving Vignettes.
Yesterday Laura kicked us off followed by Rhoda, Mary Alice, Janet, and Christine.  If you didn't see their posts be sure to pop over and visit. There was so much talent and heart represented yesterday that you don't want to miss the chance to see it all.
Today I'm starting us off with a Thanksgiving vignette pulled together with some things I've collected recently. You might notice a part of the vignette that represents what's happening in life lately. By the time you read this our house will be empty and we'll be in our rent house while we build our Forever Home.

The scale was just recently purchased when we were out antiquing. Do any of you girls know much about it? The scale says John Chatillon & Sons and it's rather large. I can't wait for it to have a place of honor on the island in our new house.

Next please visit Anita at Cedar Hill Farmhouse where French country is always the order of the day.
Then on to Susan at Love of Home. Her farmhouse always make us swoon!

After that we'll visit Sheila at My Kentucky Living with her post called Giving Thanks - Receiving Grace. Sheila is such a busy and talented blogger.
The last stunning vignette today will be shared by my hilarious and accomplished friend
Sharon at Sharon Joyce Interiors.
We thank you so much for joining us today. Tomorrow will begin At Home with Jemma where she will share a charming spot from her home and guide us through the day's posts.
We hope that you will share a Stunning Thanksgiving Vignette or other beautiful inspired post on Thursday's Thoughts of Home.
The line-up for this week is as follows:

Stunning Thanksgiving Vignettes Day 1

Welcome to Thoughts of Home Stunning Thanksgiving Vignettes.

We are so happy that you are here. This week several bloggers will be showcasing a vignette or presenting a room tour of inspiring Thanksgiving ideas for the home.
Today's tour will begin with Laura from Decor to Adore. I love to create seasonal vignettes. I feel that a huge impact can be made with just a small collection of items.

The beauty of vignettes is that you can create a bit of bliss even if your home is in disarray.

Last year I started thinking about creating a metallic, yet still neutral, Thanksgiving arrangement for our table. I gathered elements that included a basic cornucopia from Decorator's Warehouse, pine cones from our yard, and fall floral and fauna found at the Dollar Store.

The items in this faux arrangement were individually transformed with various colors of spray paint and glitter.

They were then arranged within and around the cornucopia and placed on a silver platter found at the thrift store.

Laura hopes you enjoyed this vignette which is traditional but somewhat unexpected.

Up next on the tour is Rhoda from Southern Hospitality. She is a master at layering seasonal colors and textures. You must go visit and see it all!

Then we have Mary Alice from Chateau Chic. Her home is always a cozy delight and her dried seasonal arrangement  and other touches are a must see!

She is followed by Janet from Shabbyfufu. Janet is sharing a gorgeous tablescape that features a creative autumnal centerpiece that you won't want to miss.

Christine from Rustic & Refined beautifully rounds out Monday's tours with seasonal color to make you surely want to stop by.

Tomorrow's tour will kick off with Thoughts of Home hostess Stacey from Poofing the Pillows.

Happy Thoughts of Home Everybody.

This is such a beautiful time of year and we love seeing what you have to share. Before we proceed, we want to invite you to visit Thoughts of Home Stunning Thanksgiving Vignettes next week, November 7-11. We'd love for you to link up with us on Thursday.

Our hostess this week is Stacey from Poofing the Pillows. She's busy packing boxes and preparing to move shortly. You are invited to follow the adventures on Instagram.

Now onto this week's features.

Inspiration

Jeanie at The Marmelade Gypsy makes regular visits to the most beautiful place called Southern Exposure. While there she visits the gardens, has wonderful meals, and participates in art classes. It looks just wonderful!

Recipes

Now get ready for this decadence! Daphne at Ivy, Phyllis and Me shared Brioche Bread Pudding with butter, marmalade, and dark chocolate. That just sounds incredible!

Gardening

At Mia Bella Passions, Tracey introduced us to the sweetest new plant called Garvinea.
Just looking at this flower makes me smile.
I look forward to finding this plant and adding it to my gardens.

DIY

Turning a carport into a garage looks like a piece of cake at Hawthorne and Main.
Be sure to check out the amazing job they did all on their own and take a peek at the floor.

Decorating

At While I Linger, Jolena shared shots of her home dressed to welcome Autumn. I love the way she includes items that mean something special to her in the decor.

Thankful and Counting my Blessings

This week I'm joining other bloggers to express my thankfulness and share parts of our homes. Just so happens that our home is completely and totally disassembled at this point because we are about to move.  So I'll share some photos and thoughts of the 4 1/2 years that we've lived here if that's ok with you.

I am feeling a little sentimental right now.

We moved back to our home state of Texas 4 1/2 years ago after living in Oklahoma for 23 years. We loved it there so much but we were thrilled to move back home.  It was a hard move! We left friends in Oklahoma who are still like family to us. Our #1 red headed son is also still there but we keep the hope that he'll move here sooner or later.
When we moved here the house and yard were both a clean slate.  We went to work immediately creating beautiful gardens and welcoming birds and wildlife into our yard.
Adding the pond was the best of all projects because when you add water nature thrives!
This house has provided plenty of  "decorating opportunities".
That's what my husband calls it...

We went from blank and beige to colorful and welcoming.

In this 4 1/2 years we've had friends visit, hosted parties, completed projects...

We've soaked it all in, baked a few goodies, and grown.

I could keep going but I'll stop now. The years in this house have held the greatest struggles we've ever experienced and great joys. We always know that we are blessed to be alive and to be loved. There's a church in town that has a sign out all the time with words of wisdom. Right now it says,

Thanks for letting me count a few today and I hope you have many to count too.
