I'm Out Today

Happy Wednesday Y'all!

Sometimes I have to remind myself that there's so much more to life than blogging and decorating and computing. Do you have to do that?  Maybe that's not your thing...maybe you have to remind yourself that there's more to life than accounting or cleaning or cable TV installation.

Whatever it is that occupies your mind and time, sometimes we have to hit the reset button.

I'm out today having fun.
Hope you are too. ;)

June Garden Party with Friends

garden party, lotus, ponds,

Good morning!

Can I talk about this one plant today?
Many times a certain plant has stolen all of my attention and love.
Right now this lotus has me mesmerized!

garden party, water garden, ponds, lotus

The leaves are huge and sturdy but dazzling at the same time.
The bloom reminds me of a peony but it has an amazing yellow pod in the middle.

The sun beats down on this water plant and it absolutely glows.
Some groups consider the water lotus to be sacred because it rises from the muck of  rivers and streams with strength and beauty.  Parts of this plant are edible.

This one lotus has added so much to the pond. We love it!
And I love this goofy man who does goes along with my ideas.
(You may have seen this picture on Instagram)
The lotus is so large that he had to climb in to put it in place.
No leaning over to place this plant!

Sunny & Bright Goings-On

Confession:
I Googled Goings-On to make sure I was using the phrase correctly.
The definition says events of suspect nature.

So there's nothing here of suspect nature but I'm sticking with that title....goings-on.
There are several things I hope you won't miss ....

Monday Laura at White Spray Paint shared her summer home tour.
Oh how I love this blue and white along with the bougainvillea.

Laura: White Spray PaintInstagramFacebook,  Pinterest , Twitter

Tuesday was my turn to share as part of the Sunny & Bright Home Tour.

On Wednesday At Home with Jemma shared her home all dressed up for summer.
I love her guest bedroom colors!

Yesterday Terri at Our Good Life  shared her beautiful home which is built in a really neat neighborhood which has been featured in Southern Living.

On Friday, Laura at Decor to Adore shared bedroom inspiration that she found on Pinterest and how she made those ideas her own.

One more thing before you go.
Please join us Monday for another garden party. :)

We have enjoyed those gatherings so much! What's growing in your yard? Do you have tips to share?
Have you tried something and it failed? Inquiring minds want to know!

Sunny & Bright Home Tour

Good morning!

Today I'm sharing my home as a stop on the
Sunny & Bright Home Tour organized by Terri at Our Good Life.

summer kitchen, summer home tour

In the kitchen it's all about light and bright with lots of flowers.
I've been cutting flowers from my yard every morning and we have jars of them everywhere.
I love it! When you go out into the yard in the mornings while the grass is still wet and cut something beautiful to have in your house it just feels so old fashioned and perfect.

I moved the sign that was hanging in our kitchen/eating area to another spot and created this "collagey wall" as my son calls it. Everything here is old except the printable that I
downloaded at Frosted Events blog.  I love this combination of unrelated items.
Our dining room is still showing off in red and white but I'm plotting some new ideas in here.

In our family room we are learning day by day to live with a white couch. I love the way it looks but will confess that I just about have a heart attack when someone sits or lays down on it. That's what a couch is for though so I'm trying to be calm about it.

In the master bedroom which is right off the family room, things have pretty much stayed the same since the day I sang with Barry Manilow last year. When something makes you happy there's no need to change for a little while. Right now I'm still in love with this room.

Did you see the entryway dressed for summer that I shared yesterday?

The real star of the show at our house right now is our pond which is really becoming quite beautiful.
It takes a little time for things to settle in and we are getting there.

Thank you for stopping by for my Sunny & Bright Home Tour.
Happy Summer Friends!

Summer Entryway

summer entryway, foyer, butterfly art, mercury glass, geraniums
Happy Monday and Happy Summer Solstice!
I want to welcome you to my Summer Entryway or Foyer.
Which do you call it?
We aren't fancy schmancy so to us this is the entry.
And the entry is very important!

In Texas the entry is known as the spot where you enter the house and all the glorious wonder that is air conditioning smacks you in the face and you can't help but thank the good Lord and Mr. Carrier for such an ingenious invention!!
Truth!

So anyway, when we had our Blogger Arts & Crafts retreat recently, one of the crafts we were introduced to was this beautiful 3-D butterfly art. Judith from Botanic Bleu taught us this gorgeous craft which involved stamping, painting, and cutting. It was really quite easy and the results are beautiful!

When I finished mine, I knew immediately it would have a special place in the entry because it has such a pretty summery look to it.
With the addition of a trio of blue bottles and some geraniums, I'm happy with the summery look.

Thank you Judith for teaching us this beautiful project. I love it!!

Now that you've had a peek of the entry all dressed for summer,
I hope you'll come back tomorrow when I will be participating in the Sunny & Bright Home Tour hosted by Terri Steffes.

The tour starts today so head over to Laura's at White Spray Paint for the beginning.

See you tomorrow. :)
