Adding Subtle Fall Touches

Welcome Y'all to my part in the
Fall in Love with Texas Blog Hop organized by Katie at Let's Add Sprinkles.

Our house is for sale right now so I can't exactly pull out all the stops with orange pumpkins and leaves.  I was told we can't confuse the buyers with our decor so I'm keeping it simple this year as we decorate for the Autumn season.

This mercury glass pumpkin adds a little glisten to this nook of the stairs.

Deeper colored pillows came out of the closets to replace the robin's egg blue

These are now officially oldies but goodies.
I'm always asked so I'll tell you that our drapes and pillows were made by

The counters and surfaces have to be spotlessly clean but we do
have a dish or two or candy corn and some cute cup towels.

And on the kitchen table we have a plate that comes out every year at this time with some carnations that have been hanging on for weeks. I think those flowers are a little like the warm weather here...they just won't give up!

You know outside is my favorite place to be so come back in a few days to see the presto chango I did on the porches.

Be sure and go visit the Tuesday girls.

Oh, yes...I remember when we had our house on the market almost 4 yrs ago..we had to remove nearly all personal things on walls and tabletops..so the people looking could imagine how THEIR things would look.
Your fall tour is beautiful...love your silvery pumpkin.

Not being able to decorate a lot must be tough! You have warmed up the house though with the gorgeous fabrics and touches of toile that you brought out in the living room. LOVE those multi color toiles :) Even a few little touches gives a fresh perspective on the season. Have a great day Stacey!

The things you can and cannot do when you're selling a home. I like how you added simple touches for the reminder of fall. The pillows are great and that plate, I love the detail it's a wonderful piece. Thanks for the tour - this has been fun going around to see what you all have done.

Stacey, you had me at mercury glass! I love mercury glass and that pumpkin! I now want one!! And the plate is so pretty as well. I can see why it's a perennial favorite! I can't imagine how frustrating it must be to have to restrain the decor this time of year! At least, you found ways to pull in some Fall touches. It looks lovely! I can't wait to see your outside decor!

Good morning, Stacey! I have a Mercury glass owl that would be so cute with that wonderful pumpkin! I'm in love with the print on your pretty pillow! Your Fall touches are so pretty, I look forward to seeing what else you're up to! Here's hoping your house sells soon.

Stacey, the old "take everything personal out of the house" when it's on the market. I thought your were still able to get some fall~worthy decorative items in your home. I hope that you're not moving too far. Great to share on the blog tour with you.

Stacey, your Fall touches look beautiful! I love that pretty Fall plate. I remember when we had our last house on the market. It drove me crazy having the house staged and keeping it perfect with three kids. I can remember getting a 10 minute warning for a showing and stuffing baskets of laundry and extra toys into the car-lol! I'm sending positive thoughts your way that you will sale your home soon! Happy Fall!!!

I love that mercury glass pumpkin. It's nice to have fewer things out...I'm doing that this year too! Hugs!

I love that sweet plate! I wish you good luck selling your house. We were so lucky when we left Idaho. Both my house and my Mom's house were pre-sold as soon as people found out we were moving, so we didn't even put them on the market. I am sure yours will sell very quickly. Looking forward to seeing what happens on your new adventure.

Oh Stacey I remember those days of our house on the market!!!! It is hard to decorate. With your subtle touches for fall everything looks so pretty. Sometimes I think too that buyers can see how pretty the house looks at the holidays and how they can decorate the house if they owned it. It is a hard one to navigate when you have your house up for sale. Hope you get an offer soon.
Hugs,
Kris

I love your subtle touches and that mercury glass pumpkin is the bomb! Am I too old to say that? Lol! Wednesdays are my cleaning day, so I think after I clean the house tomorrow, I'll start getting out a little fall decor. You've inspired me!

Lisa @ Fern Creek Cottage said...

I didn't know that you're not encouraged to do seasonal decor when selling your home. I'll have to tuck that little nugget away for the future. I really like the touches of fall that you have added! The mercury glass pumpkin is so wonderful!

Even with the limitations you have, you've done a wonderful job. I think the families that come thru your home will appreciate the warmth they feel with these little touches.

It's not easy having to live in a home that is on call 24/7 for a showing. '-)
I think you've done a lovely job adding some fall touches. I'll have a candy corn please!

Stacey,
Your fall touches give your home a personal touch, keeping it from being sterile. I think buyers want to see a little seasonal decor to help them see how the house will look with their seasonal decor. Fingers crossed that the buyer decides your house is THE one soon.

You are a real rockstar blogger to be part of a home tour midst selling your house. :)

Stacey, you've done a great job of refined and tasteful touches for fall. I prefer a bit of a homey touch, and yours does the job.

carol@The Red Painted Cottage said...

Stacey, I think we might have the same little pumpkin, I know I just love mine! I hope you hurry and sell your house. When we put ours on the market over three years ago, we were fortunate to go on a trip right away and when we returned home, we moved into our cottage. The only thing I had to do was light dusting and checking on things every week or two.

Attempting to sell a home this time of year must be a challenge for the decorator within. Love the touches you have added and praying your home sells quickly and without issue! Thank you for sharing what you can! Blessings, Cindy

Stacey, I'm in the frame of mind that less is more right now! Your home is always gorgeous and your decor is very tastefully done. I love it! Sonja is amazing isn't she? It's exhausting IMHO to have a home for sale...constantly making sure everything is pristine. I love for things to be clean and tidy, however, life is too short to be constantly cleaning!

Sending positive energy your way for a quick sale ~
