Lies and Other Acts of Love

Let's pretend that we are all in a book club together and you are coming to my house today.

I'd serve my Make No Mistakes Chicken Salad with a veggie tray.
For dessert we will have Fresh Peach Pie because I have some wonderful frozen peaches left over from last summer.

I'm going to tell y'all about a great book I just read so you can read it too. :)
The book we'd talk about today would be  Lies and Other Acts of Love by Kristy Woodson Harvey.

Lies and Other Acts of Love, book review

Here's a synopsis to whet your reading appetite:

After sixty years of marriage and five daughters, Lynn “Lovey” White knows that all of us, from time to time, need to use our little white lies.
Her granddaughter, Annabelle, on the other hand, is as truthful as they come. She always does the right thing—that is, until she dumps her hedge fund manager fiancé and marries a musician she has known for three days. After all, her grandparents, who fell in love at first sight, have shared a lifetime of happiness, even through her grandfather’s declining health. But when Annabelle’s world starts to collapse around her, she discovers that nothing about her picture-perfect family is as it seems. And Lovey has to decide whether one more lie will make or break the ones she loves.

From the first lines of the book, I was hooked!
Almost every chapter begins with a wonderful sentence that grabs you and won't let you go.

My grandmother, Lovey, says there are two types of people in the world: the kind who flee to the shelters at the first threat of a hurricane, and the kind who wait it out, hovering over their possessions as if their fragile lives offer any protection against a natural mother that can take them out of this world as quickly as she brought them into it.

Lies and Other Acts of Love, book review

Lovey and Annabelle are strong women who love their families. This is a generational story with
a little white lie told somewhere in time that tiptoes in the background but lends a lesson to us all.

Read Kristy's book Lies and Other Acts of Love. You will love it!
Available April 5th on Amazon.
