Visiting Christmas Past

Hello friends. have you recovered from Thanksgiving's over indulgences?
I just finished a piece of pumpkin pie. True. :)

Today we are visiting a few posts from Christmases past here at Poofing the Pillows.

Let me just say, thank goodness for improved photography skills!
Looking back is an eye opener both as a reminder of wonderful times
and as a reminder of how far we've come taking pictures.

The time I hosted a tiny little Christmas party.

Red Velvet Bundt Cake served at Christmas Bunko party. So delicious and beautiful plus it served a lot of people.

It's fun to look back at how things change and how they stay the same.
Counting my blessings this holiday season.

Christmas in Texas blog hop starts December 4th.

Knock knock. Are you there or are you out shopping?
 I'm not here either. :)
Just stopping by to leave a few things that caught my eye.

Jann Olson has organized a Christmas Linky Party that is sure to be fun.

So you can see the Christmas in Texas girls and Jann's crew all in one week. :)

Love the Coopers

The other day we talked about some Christmas theme books but now let's talk about a movie.
We saw Love the Coopers last weekend and we loved it!

Love the Coopers review at Poofing the Pillows

Any movie that has Diane Keaton in it is a must see for me. This movie also had John Goodman and several other great actors. Why did we love it? This movie reminds us that families are crazy, and mixed up, and somewhat 'dysfunctional' but it's all ok. There are hilarious parts in this movie and times that you'll pull out a tissue. I definitely recommend this one!

Our Christmas movie list includes Elf,
Christmas Vacation, The Holiday,
and It's a Wonderful Life every single year.
How about yours?

By the way, my friend Eilis at My Heart Lives Here is having an amazing give away right now of a copy of French Accents by Anita @ Cedar Hill Farmhouse!! Go enter now! While you are there be sure to see her beautiful french country home tour. It will make you swoon.

Christmas Reads Just for Fun

In every season I love a good book.
Seems like we often see great summer reading lists but today I'm sharing a few fiction Christmas reads that look like fun. I know there's much to be done in the next few weeks but I'm definitely going to spend some time with a good book or two.

In Christmas at Harrington's, the main character finds a red coat which lands her a job
as Mrs. Santa Clause. The reviews are great and the story line sounds sweet.

I adore Fannie Flagg and A Redbird Christmas has been around for several years. Have you read it?
Like her other books, it's a sweet story about the lives of small town people. I enjoyed this one a few years ago.

Mary Kay Andrews always gives us amazing southern stories too. With names like Weezie and BeBe and a setting like Savannah, GA this has to be a great book. I'll definitely be reading this one.

What's on your night stand to read right now?

Lamp Love ♥

Depending on the time of year, different things become important to us.

Lamp love at Poofing the Pillows

In the fall and winter I need light!  You too? I thought so.
This little lamp kept calling my name at the store and she had a shine but was a little
plain. She sits by the world's cutest chair so she couldn't be a dowdy lamp.
Sorry cute lamp but it's true.

Buffalo checks and bright colors on an office chair.

Then we spotted the magnetic flower that just pops onto the shade and lamp love was born!
She's keeping me company at my desk now while I read your blogs.
We are happy together.

What's making you happy today?
Be sure and tell me in the comments. :)

Pinterest Inspiration

Christmas is nudging its way into my mind these past few days.
There just might be a jingle or two playing on my Pandora and I might be spending more time than
usual on Pinterest. Are you doing that too?

I thought I'd share a few Christmas Pinterest boards that are making my eyes sparkle.
Pictures of homes that are decked out in realistic ways are what I like to see.
As my friend Kim at Exquisitely Unremarkable talked about, I want to decorate using the things we already have and love  but with a little Christmas twist.

Grab a cup of coffee or a big Diet Coke and enjoy a few of these Pinterest boards.

Let's look at this picture for a minute...
Andrea put her cute Christmas dishes on the shelves that she changes for the seasons...tied a few ribbons...and just look at how adorable it is!

Love this picture posted on my Pinterest board. How easy and cute is this?
We all have newspapers or maybe an old book we could wrap a gift with
and then add the perfect embellishment.

BJ at Sweet Nothings has a fun Christmas board and had this
one pinned from  Around R House. Adorable!

And of course sweet Carol at Art and Sand inspires everyone with her creative cottage blog.
Most of us can't compete with her creativity but check out her Pinterest boards to be
inspired for Christmas. :)
