A Tuna Recipe for Fish Haters...Really!


Now before I share this most deliciously wonderful recipe let me tell you that I hate fish!

Hate it!  Hate the smell!  Hate the texture!
Don't even like to walk through that section of the grocery store. Period.
Can we still be friends?

But tuna salad is a different story when it's all dolled up. I like it with lots of ingredients added and with good quality tuna. Don't talk to me about the kind that looks and smells like cat food.

Looks good, doesn't it?


Gather up your ingredients and let me tell you how easy this is. :)


Tuna and Rice Salad with Avocado Dressing

For the salad:
2 cups cooked rice
2 cans solid white albacore tuna
1 8 1/2 oz. can of green peas
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 cup diced celery
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
Dash or two of hot sauce

Mix it all. Easy peasy.

For the dressing:
2 ripe avocados
1 cup mayo
1 cup sour cream
3 or 4 drops hot sauce
1/2 tsp Worcestershire
1/4 cup minced onion

Mix together in a blender or I use my Kitchen Aid with the paddle.

Slice up tomatoes and serve the salad with dressing on top.
Add a cracker or two for good measure.

This is just delicious served up nice and cold on a hot summer day.


I know there are lots of us out there who really don't like fish but will eat tuna salad or
an occasional Long John Silver's.

I'm not a big seafood eater either, Stacey and to be honest tuna is way down on the list LOL . The Hubster loves tuna though. I'll have to be a good wifey and make him a batch ;)

I love fish! All kinds....salmon, grouper, shrimp, crab, lobster and tuna! Never had it with rice, but this sounds good!

Stacey, I noticed that you "doctored up" the tuna with Avocados! :) I just love seafood. Hey, I live in New England & we get fresh seafood in our grocery stores just about every day. Haddock, Scallops & Swordfish are great in the summer.

There are only a few fish I like and I do love tuna---eat tuna salad for lunch at least once a week. The dressing sounds outstanding- I can imagine it on a lot of things!! Thanks. Will definitely try!! :)

I only like very mild fish...so I'd eat shrimp scampi, or crablegs or lobster or orange roughy, maybe sole. That's it.

Tuna...I put tuna in macaroni salad :) So I bet that I'd like something like this recipe of yours :)

Oh wow! I feel exactly the same!!! Recipe looks delicious! We took a family vacation to Destin. My son in law is a marvelous cook and prepared fresh seafood every night. I politely suffered through. However on the last day, he made fish sandwiches. I couldn't eat one bite. I was done!!! I felt like a kid trying to fake eat my supper! Lol.

I'm totally with you on not being a fan of fish, but for some reason I'll eat tuna a couple of times a year. :) What I really can't stand is when people eat fish with the head still attached!!! So gross! Lol! This recipe sounds really good though and I could really see using that yummy dressing on lots of other stuff as well!

Rice huh! Who would have thought. I like to eat fish, but, not great at cooking it right. So tuna for me it is and I have a farmer's market tomato!
