We Love a Good Movie!

We've seen several movies lately because of all the rain we've had.
The sun is shining now and summer's arrival is upon us but the movies are still so much fun.
 Here's a few we've seen that I'd recommend.

I'll See You in my Dreams with Blythe Danner and Sam Elliott.

Hello, Sam Elliott!!
I could listen to him all day long.

This was an interesting and entertaining movie.
I might call it a little artsy.
It's the kind of movie has a great story but doesn't necessarily end the way I would have chosen.

We needed a good laugh too so we saw Hot Pursuit.
Hilarious!!
That's the word I'd use for this movie.
Reese Witherspoon and Sophia Vergara are perfect together.
They both remind me of Lucille Ball in different ways.
Definitely see this movie if you need to laugh. :)

Now I'll confess that we kind of love the type of movie where some
terrible natural disaster happens and San Andreas did not disappoint.
Was it believable? Nope but it was still fun.

Just yesterday we saw Aloha.
It was enjoyable but not memorable.
Well actually, I would mostly remember the beautiful people in this movie.
I liked the movie but my husband definitely considered it a chick flick.

What have you seen lately?

Been looking forward to "See You in my Dreams." Great cast and looks awesome. Will go with my women's club movie group I think.

Haven't see the others.

We saw the latest avengers- love the Marvel Comics movies - but don't go see unless you go waaaaay back to the beginning and see all the other ones. It won't mean nearly as much to you. I go for THOR, he is my hunka burnin love and my husband teases me endlessly about Chris Helmsworth, clearly the Most Beautiful Creature On The Planet Earth.

That's about it for new movies lately. A lot of the latest ones are now available to see at the second run theatres (we call "The Cheapies") or on Netflix, Amazon Movies, etc.

Sam Elliot has the most wonderful voice! I haven't seen a movie in a long time. I prefer hour long shows, because I get kind of bored and restless in two hours.

Sounds like the perfect way to stay out of the rain. Haven't seen any new movies lately. So glad the rain has stopped!

My husband is big Blythe Danner fan, so I bet he would enjoy watching that movie with me. Thanks for sharing.

I just love going to the movies! It has been too long since I've gone. Can you believe all this rain Texas is getting! It is so strange. I hope it stops soon!

I need to see a good movie, but by the weekend I'm tired and don't much care to get out. I guess summer will be my catch up time. I'll have to try some of those movies. Thanks for the recommendation.

I had to go back and read your post twice...I couldn't get past Sam Elliot. He is sooo swoon worthy.
Haven't seen any of these movies....and they all sound good...even the one with Bradley Cooper. :)
We don't go to the movies much...in fact, I can't remember the last one...one with Russell Crowe and it wasn't very good.

Hmm. When was the last time I was at a movie...let me think? Nope. Can't even remember! These look good though, maybe it't time to get to the theater again! Oh and you said to let you know if I read anything good? I did! I actually just read Nana Diana's new book and I highly recommend it...great summer read for sure!

Aloha, San Andreas, and Hot Pursuit are all on my list too! They all looked really good. I don't think we've seen any good ones lately. I am going to watch that new series "The Whispers" starting tonight on ABC though. I don't know if it'll be any good, but I'll give it a whirl. :) It's supposed to be kind of scary, and I think it's about kids who have imaginary friends. I don't think they're the friendly type though. Lol! I thought I might also watch "Astronaut Wives Club" this summer. Tv viewing is slim pickings in the summer. :)

Hi Stacey, sounds like a good movie line up. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. We haven't seen any of these but my hubby wants to see San Andreas.

Did you enjoy the sunshine on Sunday?? So nice for a change!
Have a great week.

Are any of these movies available on Netflix or something similar? I never go to the theater because I can't hear (yes, even amplified sounds get crazy). I've hard of all of these. Love Blythe Danner-so pretty and a classy lady. I think Sofia Vegara is hysterical. Thanks for the recommendations!

I'd like to see San Andreas, one of the few movies I'd go to the theater to see. Otherwise, I like to wait until they're out on DVD and eat my own popcorn. LOL

The Sam Elliot movie sounds good, but I wish Gwynneth Paltrow instead of her mom were in it. Just an opinion, not that anyone asked. :-)))

I usually wait until movies come to Netflix....my hubby is not a big going to the movies fan. These all sound great!

I'm not a big disaster movie fan, but Aloha is on our list and we saw Hot pursuit, so cute :) We also enjoyed Avengers: Age of Ultron and deline, and I want to see Tomorrowland. I know, it's a kids movie, but I think it looks like fun!

How is Dallas, Stacey. Edmond is wonderful and the weather here is beautiful. A little rainy, but still great.

I haven't blogged in so long so I'm totally out of the loop. We are finally nearing the end of our kitchen remodel and that makes my guy and I so happy. Never again. Will buy new before I venture into such deep waters in the future.

Life has been challenging the last two years, but still good. Thankfully things are returning to normal and that makes us both so happy.

Hope you are well. I'll backtrack a bit to see what all I've missed.

Hugs~

Last movie I watched? At home: The King's Speech (for the 5th time. Love it!) At the theater: Gone With The Wind. They re-released it about 6 months ago.

I'm not a big fan of movie theaters, but I watch a lot of movies at home :)

Stay dry!

We don't go to movie theaters, but do enjoy watching movies at home. I agree with Rue that The King's Speech is wonderful. Love that movie. I enjoy Blythe Danner and Sam Elliott, so chances are good that I'd like I'll See You In My Dreams. Thanks for sharing, Stacey. xo ~ Nancy

I wrote these down on my 'to see' list. We watch movies when they come out on DVD and just saw Unbroken. I realize it is a true story and well done but it was disturbing and I won't watch it again. Sweet hugs, Diane

There are a few I've said I'd like to see, Stacey, but I mostly wait until they come on DVD. I'd love to see the new one with Melissa McCarthy and Jason Statham; it looks pretty funny. I also wanted to see The Age of Adaline. There's another one I can't think of at the moment.

What a nice selection! I've just seen Paddington, the sweetest movie, and The Imitation Game, which was excellent.

Age of Adeline is not to be missed. It was just in theaters. it is so beautiful and the vintage costumes are simply divine.. Women in Gold was also excellent. I will try the Blyth Danner movie she is a favorite actress. Have a good day.

I just went to see Aloha with my mom yesterday because I needed a light romantic comedy and I agree with your review. I wanted to like it more because I love the actors but the story line was weak and hard to follow. The people were definitely pretty and the ending was good. I love natural disaster movies as well and definitely want to go see San Andreas especially since I live right on that fault!

We saw Aloha last night and thought it was okay. I loved John Krasanski's character.

We wil see the Blythe Danner film next Monday - seniors are $5 on Mondays.
