Jet Plane :)

Heading for San Diego this week with my husband.

He's working...I'm playing.

Leaving our son in charge of the house and critters.
(oh my)

Hope y'all have a wonderful week!!

Coffee Table Vignette: For a Little While

Creating vignettes is one of the fun parts of decorating.

 Don't you think?

I'll confess that our coffee table tends to stay the same: tray, magazines, and coasters.

 It's a practical thing.

Today I decided to change it up with some oldies but goodies.

I grabbed a piece of fabric and skillfully sewed glued the edges down.

Retrieved some books from a shelf, a bird nest,
and a statue that dates back to the beginning of our marriage.

I likey!! :)

Don't know how long this will last. That nest looks like it would be awfully fun to our kitty.

Remember when I mentioned Zumba the other day?
Going back tonight for the sixth time. Woo hoo!

Are you keeping your exercise resolutions?

For My Girlfriends

Y'all know I love the Soul Pancake videos.

This one came today in my email and couldn't be more perfect to go along
with some of the things I've read lately and feelings expressed by friends.

I hope you'll watch it.

Prepare to be a little teary eyed.

Prepare to be wowed!!

Watch to the very end please. It's worth it. :)

Loving This Day

Hi friends!

Having a gorgeous sunshine.

Windows open.

Working on projects.

Kind of day.

How about you?

Make Mine Red

Lately it seems that the color red is popping up again in magazines and catalogs.

I've seen it BHG, Pinterest, and Pottery Barn.

To those are seeing red as fresh and new I say, welcome back!

Red is fun, exciting, and pretty.

Maybe too much for some but I love it!

Do you have a color that thrills you more than any other?

Today I Mopped: Mustering Motivation When It's In Short Supply

The other day I talked about the January blahs and how I just couldn't get anything done.
Today was the day to change all of that.
The sun was shining and the water was sparkling on the pond out behind the house.

Sunshine just changes everything. Doesn't it?

I started by turning on Crossroads Radio and getting a nice cold Diet Coke.

Great music and a Diet Coke. Now we're on to something!

I took everything out of the kitchen and mopped.
A certain puppy has been leaving prints on my floor.

Put something pretty back on the kitchen table that has been bare since Christmas.

Did a little poofing and organizing, appreciating our blessings as I went along.

Then the man decided he needed hot chocolate.
I told him to get out.
I told him I couldn't be a famous blogger with him in the room making messes.

He had the nerve to laugh out loud and tell me that Bill O'Reilly
is a famous blogger and I'm a Pinterest princess.

Clearly we don't appreciate the same things.

When he left the room I had to polish the sink again!

Music, Diet Coke, and sunshine.
A recipe for motivation!

Even with the January blahs I'd rather be home than absolutely anywhere.

The All-Girl Filling Station's Last Reunion

If you and I could sit and talk about books, I'd tell you that without a doubt,
Southern Fiction is my favorite genre and I adore everything written by Fannie Flagg.

I just finished
The All-Girl Filling Station's Last Reunion
and  enjoyed every minute of it.

Have you read it yet?

I don't want to reveal too much but you should know that Mrs. Sookie Poole of Point Clear, Alabama found out that she wasn't who she thought she was. This led to meeting people from her distant past, learning some interesting history,  lots of soul searching, and some hilarious moments along the way.

I enjoyed this much just as much as the rest of Fannie's books.

If you've read it, let me know what you thought.
If not, get a copy. :)

The Scoop #101

Sometimes I Laugh Like a Hyena

Oh gosh, I wish there was some fantastic project I could show you about now.
Truth is, there's very little being accomplished here since Christmas.

Somebody came like a thief in the night
 and stole my motivation, y'all!

I have a list of projects and a few that have been started.
They stare at me...and stay there...in the same spots.
Meanwhile I've been napping a lot.

Last night I even went to bed without cleaning up the dinner dishes.

I bet that's only happened twice in our marriage.
And when we got up this morning the kitchen reeked of onion.

Which leads me to this...I spotted this on Facebook today.

First thought, that's not how you spell poisonous.

Second thought, I should be dead!
Then I started reading the responses to the story that
accompanied the picture. One guy who calls himself Flyswatter said,

"Onions can be really dangerous...
My wife threw one at me and it hit me in the eye....It really hurt..."

That just made me bust out laughing. :)

Here's another thing that made me laugh from my napping chair:

Went to Zumba last night for the first time with my best friend from childhood.

(That's a long time to be friends, by the way.)

Anyway, since I'm a Zumba aficionado now, I decided to look on Pinterest for the perfect
outfits to wear to Zumba class.

It's important to look the part.

This picture is pretty spot on!!

This picture is just so fitting because we love Napoleon at our house. :)

Last good laugh, Kerry at HouseTalkN wrote a post
called

She's hysterical and this one had me spitting my coffee!

Now seriously, I've seen so many wonderful lists of things to accomplish in 2014 floating around blogland.

Please tell me you are with me....under the blankets.

It's January and it's cold!!

Fresh Cut Friday

Continuing to fluff and scrub after the holidays.

Loving the fresh flowers that are placed around the house.

Guess what's in my hot chocolate tin?

The last of the candy...I'm hiding it from everyone! :)

What are you up to on this Fresh Cut Friday?

The Girls

The girls just don't understand what all the New Year's fuss is about.

That pretty sparkly Christmas tree has disappeared.

There are no more ribbons and bows to attack.

No more ornaments to chew.

No more forbidden foods to try and get.

And the blasted vacuum cleaner keeps running and running!

Happy New Year!

It's time for a New Year!

A chance for something new.

A chance to do some things better.

A chance to leave some things behind.

I'm excited.

Are you?
