Our Planked Mantel

Not perfect by a long shot but I love it!

This little project that seems to take others 3 hours
took us a week and at least 5 trips to
Lowe's.

The tongue and groove wood has devilish knot holes I had to deal with.
What do others do about that?
Heck if I know!

I keep walking by and staring.
I feel like I'm in sync with Chip and Joanna. :)

In fact, I've been obsessing about the imperfections but realized,
after staring at Chip and Joanna's farmhouse, that a real shiplap wall is far from perfect.

Our wall has a few more touch ups that I need to do but for a day or two
I'm just going to look at it and smile.
Ready to decorate for Christmas now.

On another note, I haven't decided about the holiday challenge yet. Are you in?

Y'all did a great job!! It definitely reminds me of Chip and Joanna! I know what you mean about having to make numerous trips to Lowe's. It seems like no matter how many lists we make, we always end up returning for one thing or another. Anyway, I love your planked mantel. It adds so much charm. :)

I think this looks beautiful, Stacey! What a fantastic idea! Sometimes when we do something ourselves, we look at it so much it just always looks "off", and it really isn't!

I also love the frame with the script (or sheet music) in it. Did you make that? Did I miss it?

It looks beautiful! And it's real wood...which has imperfections naturally! I think it looks great and it will be so much fun to have behind your decorations! Christmas colors will really show up nicely! Happy Thanksgiving my friend!
