Master Bedroom

Our master bedroom needs some TLC.
It's a nice big room with a beautiful ceiling line, wood floors, and a whole wall of windows.

We've had everything in here for years and I'm ready for a change.
Now don't get me wrong, according to my husband they will bury us before we buy new furniture.
That's about the only thing decorating wise that he puts his foot down about. :)

But I sure would love some new bedding and accessories.
It's so hard to pick that stuff out and commit!
Do you agree?

We need a chair or two and maybe a rug.
That's a big maybe - we like the wood floor.

This set at Birch Lane keeps haunting me.
Their ads show it mixed with a little red - which would work for me. :)
What do you think?
This would really be a departure for us but that's probably long overdue.

I found this color clip that was saved to my hard drive.
No idea where it came from but the color combo is pretty.
This could work!

For now I'm clipping roses and looking for inspiration.
What do you think?

Do you have a hard time choosing sometimes?

I sure do have a hard time choosing, a lot of the time actually! I think that color combination is beautiful. I noticed your picture of the books with the flowers ~ love that!

I think that is a wonderful place to start! I love the color clip too.

I don't change things very often in my bedroom. It took me a long time to get it the way I wanted it. But for throw pillows or shams, I usually buy pillow covers now (of make them) so that I can change them more often. I love the colors you've shown! And I love the pillows on your bed! They are gorgeous! Hugs, Diane

I do have a hard time choosing because I keep things a LONG time! I think I have replaced my duvet cover one time in the last 27 years and when I did I searched to find one just like the one I had! Whatever you choose I am sure it will look great!

I think your new ideas are terrific...love that you still want a pop of red. Looking forward to see what you decide on. I am sure it will be lovely. Jane

New bedding and throw pillows will give your room a whole new look!! Your room is so pretty already!

I had to chuckle as I could almost hear your husband's grumblings (a male thing I imagine as they all sound pretty much the same no matter where they hail from!)
That said, we have moved many times in 38 years of marriage and I have always used the same 'African' method...I move one or two items daily from one place or another, often from one room to another...a little each day until 'the owner' does not remember where it belongs or even if he owned it in the first place...Fond of charity shoppes, I then move the 'new' item in...By then if noticed, 'the owner' is kindly reminded of the 'bargain', like an old respected 'uncle'... Even the Corgi and the cat are no longer surprised and I make a point NEVER to touch anything in ex-RAF flyboy's garden...
It works!
P.S. The grey colour is very chic!

I could definitely see that bedding with red accents. Your bedroom is so pretty already but I understand wanting a change. Sadly, our master bedroom is the most neglected room in the house. Can't wait to see what you do with it.

Hi Stacey! I love seeing your pretty home. Your bedroom furniture is gorgeous. I love that style. I do agree it's hard to commit to bed linens. I seem to go pretty simple, I guess I'm skeert! :) But I do love what you picked out. Thanks for popping in to see me and be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

First of all...I LOVE your bedroom furniture!!! So pretty! I think the bedding you showed would look great with a little red mixed in. I looked for a long time for my new bedding and finally found a great deal at Zulily. Sometimes the thrill of the hunt can be the best part of re-decorating. :)

I, too, have a hard time deciding on options for my home, but can readily tell anyone else what to do!! The set you show is really pretty and would definitely pop with a few red accents. With that set, you could use about any color for an accent. It looks gray, is it?

I'm such an indecisive person, I drive my husband crazy! Lol. I have to say I got a good laugh out of your husband's comment about the furniture. I feel like I've heard that somewhere before! Lol.

Love the bedding and the color chip selection....fun, I'm ready for another before and after from you!

Gosh, do I ever know what you mean about buying new furniture! I like your furniture..so classic and the color chip. Lots of great colors to work with..nice and soft but yet cheerful. The bed linens you chose are really pretty. I think you're off to a good start.

I really like your bedroom furniture. Yes, I have a hard time deciding. I'm just finishing the guest bedroom and it took me quite a while to decide on the bedding. And the paint color too!
Can't wait to see what you choose...

Cindy

I love it! Go for it! My bedroom set is antique rock maple and belonged to an old friend's dad when he was a boy. It is insufficient and clunky, but we love it, so it stays. I do change the bedding every now and again, but just the top quilt. The white base is a constant...so yes, I have a hard time choosing! Good luck!

Your furniture is beautiful and classic. That bedding set is pretty and I like that coral shade in the paint chip row..( as an accent color : )

Do I ever! Sometimes Pinterest is a help in finding a style I like but more often it's a huge collection of rooms and I love them all, which doesn't really narrow anything down does it? The comforter you show is beautiful, and I love the coral in your color swatch. A change is always good :>)

I think the color chip and the bedding are so pretty. I love changing out the bedding on the beds in the house. It feels like I have a new room that way.
I can't wait to see what you decide.

I have no opportunities to choose anything so if I did it would be easy. I think people that live in this kind of luxury need to learn to content with what you have. Wanting more is not happiness. It's already so much more then most will ever know. Contentment with such a home would be enough for most.

Your furniture is beautiful, Stacey! Change the throw pillow colors & maybe drapes. I don't change colors often in a room, but change the accessories.

I have a hard time deciding on this type of thing too. I would start with the bedding and go from there. I love Your bedroom furniture and the hard wood floors.

Oh my stars! I'm so drawn to the color chip myself! I like the bedding you show - maybe some of those colors on the chip as pillows. We're making some changes too! Probably won't get our room done until next summer but it's fun looking and dreaming!

Stacey,
You are off to a good start with your color choices. I think you can do alot with those sweet colors. I get stuck all the time with changing things up and making decisions. Good luck I bet it will be so pretty.

We are in the same place with our bedrooms! Our drapery linings are *literally* shredding from the sun beating in so hard! Maurie gave me the ok months ago to start over and I just can't seem to find a starting point! Exact same thing in the living room. Maybe we need a good shopping day to figure things out :)

Kathy @ Creative Home Expressions said...

I do, I have a hard time especially when it is expensive stuff, Stacey. However, I always have to stop and realize that I don't often change out my bedding so I break it down over average years and that makes it easier to take in the price sometimes. I also usually look for things on clearance. I like the pillows in your first picture; such a pretty toile fabric. I think red would look good with your furniture.

Oh gosh, I'll have a vision in my head and then when it's time to commit, I doubt myself! Go with your gut!!! I love the bedding and mixed with red would be beautiful!!~~Ang

Stacey, your furniture is classic and so gorgeous! Our bedroom desperately needs new linen. Ugh...the price of anything good is keeping us away from buying at this point. Your choice is absolutely beautiful! You have so much class! xoxo Jen

I think that whatever colors and pieces you pick, it will look great! As for those pretty roses...they add to every décor!

If you have to be "stuck" with bedroom furniture, Stacey, yours is the style to have. It's timeless. Whatever you decide to do, I know it will be beautiful. You have great taste. I don't really have a hard time choosing. I almost always know what I want and it's almost always more than I an afford. LOL No, seriously, choosing is not a problem for me. xxx ~ Nancy

I read somewhere years ago to evaluate the cost per wearing of an outfit. For example, if you paid X amount of dollars for an outfit and wore it once what would it cost? I think furniture and bedding should be thought of that way too. You sleep in your bed 365 or a few less days a year subtracting vacations and weekend getaways. What is the cost per use? I think if we think of the cost of bedding that way we would realize it is quite a bargain or am I rationalizing?

Jaybird said...

I like the bedding, AND the color clip. I have that combo in our room this summer, but I actually have the more blue gray rather than the robin's egg/turquoise. It all works well together!
I really like your furniture, in fact I may be a mite envious :^)
We have cheap pine....the 80's left it over LOL.
Hope you can find something that you like...it is a task for sure!!
Blessings,
J
