Redoing the Granny Guest Room

One of the reasons we chose this house is that it has a nice little guest room downstairs.

We liked that idea because so many people don't like to climb stairs.

However, this room is tucked around a corner on the north side of the house and it was dark!

Not any more!

After my mom set me straight that the Granny Room needed help,
I took off to Sherwin Williams for paint and Target for Shabby Chic bedding.

The paint salesman convinced me to try the color Snowbound on the walls.

Let me tell you, this room glows now!

The paint is a beautiful bright white.

We also switched out the bedding and added a night stand.

We aren't finished. It's still missing all the cute things that make it homey.

Need to add artwork, family photos, and add a few other things.
I'm going to paint the wicker chair white.

Here's what it looked like before.
In pictures the changes are subtle but in person it's a huge difference.

Pretty room, Stacey! Love the pops of red. I'm making note of the wall color. We are about to update my childhood home in Louisiana; and I want a nice white for the walls. This one is pretty!

I love Target's shabby chic stuff! The room looks great! I love the bedding and pillows. That's a great color on the wall too. I'm in the process of redoing my master bedroom and chose white bedding too. It makes it easy to decorate around.

Hi, Stacey,
I just checked out how the room used to look, and I love the changes you made.
I don't like "dark". "Bright and sunny" is much better to me. So I am loving the wall color and of course, I love the touches of red. I know your mom will love it, and you can't call it the granny room anymore. :)
Thanks for your sweet comment about my front porch, too.

You can't go wrong with white walls and white bedding. It lets everything else pop in the room! I love that iron bed you have too. So old fashioned and looks great against the simple white linens.

It will take awhile before I get this new house to fit my mood...after all, it took MANY years to get the olden house the way I wanted it. This house is new and so so nice...it needs repainting to get MY colors going but we will do that later, when we can afford it. In the meantime, things are coming together pretty good.
I can't tell you how nice it is to be able to see my son so often...
I love it !! :)

Hi came over from A Stroll Thru Life and love your guest room. Did you make that fab lampshade? Gonna search your blog for the tutorial. And is your red gingham throw from Target? I have one just like it sent to me by my BFF as a "root canal present." (Yeah I have the BEST BFF.) Also in love with your DR as shown on Marty's blog today. Red/white toile, checks, red plates. . . does it get any better?
