Sunflower Days

"Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadow. It's what sunflowers do."

-Helen Keller

This sunflower is a little gift from the birds.
Growing right in the middle of hostas and impatiens.

I love them too---but so do the squirrels...the flower will not last many hours around here before the squirrels attack it...guess those fresh seeds taste much better than the dried ones.

Stay cool!

I love sun flowers but usually not little gifts from birds. They've left me several grapevines in the most inconvenient places, like the middle of my rose bushes! It's hard to pick grapes among thorns!

My son had just ridden the mechanical bull in the restaurant and was still a little giddy from it! They went easy on him so he did fine but then tripped stepping off the platform and went sprawling across the floor. It was more funny than painful, especially since they televise the rides throughout the restuarant! I was glad he was in a good mood about it!

I love these little surprise gifts left here and there in my garden. I have several sunflowers that have been left by little friends. I'll leave them to go to seed and the goldfinch will love them later.
