Home

There's no place like home...right?

I know you bloggers will understand that sentiment. Please say a little prayer for my sweet friend Ellen and lots of other Oklahomans who had their homes flooded yesterday.

It is quite uncommon for flooding to occur here.
My friend and most of the others affected do not have flood insurance because they do not live in flood prone areas.  Insurance isn't going to cover any of the expense at all.

It's quite overwhelming.

Thank you to those of you who have checked on my family. We are fine here.

We are off for a few days.  See you soon!

That is awful to get flooded when you are not in an area that normally does so. So of course you don't have flood insurance when it isn't needed and then you are stuck. Same thing happened to my son in Nashville with that horrible flood this year. Thank goodness it was just the basement, but they had to take out the wall and floors and start over. Hard to do on one income that isn't big in the first place.

I hope you continue to stay dry. Prayers going out to your friends and all that have been affected by the flooding. We are having torrential rain right now and I worry about my husband and daughters that have to drive home tonight in this. I always say we should have a raft in the attic, just in case!

My heart goes out to your friend. We've had our home flooded before, so I can definitely relate to her feelings. (We didn't have flood insurance either, because we didn't live in a flood zone either.) So sorry. My prayers are with her family and the many others who experienced the same.

Stacey...we have already been helping some of the victims through our church. We know a few people that have been affected. Such a terrible thing to have happen in an are that is not used to this kind of storm.

I am so happy to hear that all is well with you and yours! My prayers are definitely with the suffering.

Glad you are okay Stacie..we got a lot of water here by the lake but not enough to get up to our homes! I am so sad for so many that don't have flood insurance...I can't imagine all that red water in the house! Have a restful time off and I will be praying for your friends.

Hi, Stacey,
I'm glad you and family are safe. What's with all this flooding lately? I can't even imagine what it would be like having that happen and no insurance. I will sure be praying for them.

They are all in my prayers. I couldn't believe the 11 inches of rain that happened in such a short time in your area, when areas right by you got maybe an inch. Such devestation in a short time.

As you said in our e-mail we do live in Oklahoma and you never know what you might get with the weather!!!

With every news story, my heart was saddened. I forgot that you lived in the affected state. I am thankful that you are all well. I feel so sad for your friend. I cannot imagine losing everything and not having the benefit of insurance. Makes me appreciate my home more. I will say a prayer for your friend, and ask God to send you some sun.

That's why we started renovating this house in the first place. Water that burst the pipes underground and flooded the house. Even if you have insurance, they do not typically pay for water that comes up in a structure. Only water that comes down. So that started us on this whole house project. And came straight out of our pockets. I sure do feel for them.

Morning Stacey! There is nothing worse than dealing with flooding! People just don't realize the weight of things after they are saturated with water not to mention the musty stinky smell you can't get rid of; pure sadness and exhaustion! I'm glad you didn't experience this in your own home BUT my thoughts go out to all who did! Enjoy whatever it is you are up to this weekend - Sincerely, Jeannette
