Do you remember the word phototropism from biology? For some reason that word sticks in my head. It is a plants tendency to grow towards the light.

My amaryllis bulb grows taller each day and reaches for the sun. I try to spin it around every few days so the stem won't be too curved. Can't wait for it to bloom!

On another note, I am leaning away from my comfort zone for the next two weeks. I am working for a friend in a business office answering phones. Also, this weekend the 'singing son' and I are traveling to Winchester, VA for a college audition.

Be back soon!

p.s. Is it Spring yet?

WOOOO HOOOO!!! Someone rememberd a Biology word!

Not only do I remember it - - - I TEACH it, along with gravitropism and photoperiodism.

You go girl - - - you get a STAR from the old biology teacher!

Hmm...that word sounds 'vaguely' familiar, but I won't swear by it! :) Good luck to your son at his audition. Is he looking to land a college scholarship for singing? Let us know how it goes!

I to love growing Amaryllis plants...what do you do with them after they bloom? I recycle mine each year in the flower garden and they do wonderfully.

So you are going to be the "Hello, how may I help you" lady for a couple of weeks...that will be exciting.

Good luck to son on his audition.

No, it isn't spring yet...hang on!
And good for you to remember that term...I remember it now that you brought it to mind. Isn't it funny how that works.

I didn't know what the word was! I've long found it amazing, though, as I rotate my plants to watch them keep reaching for the light.

Your amaryllis is huge!! It's hard to imagine how they stay in the pot!!

Enjoy your time at work. I consider it socialization (from my social studies class). It sure beats talking to the walls all day!

Have a safe and good trip with your son! :-)

Hey Stacerooni! How cool to have a road trip with you son! Good luck to you both. I remember the word "mitochondria".

Way out of my comfort zone. Both of those things. No, I don't seem to recall that word. Strange, as I love plants so. But, I'm lucky to remember what I had for lunch.

Cathy said...

Stacey...I finally cut my flowers and let them bloom in water. I was afraid they would grow so tall they would fall over and break the container I had them in. They look just as pretty just not as tall;)!!!

I am so proud of you for breaking out of your comfort zone. I have been talking about getting a part time something to do for years and can't seem to act on it...maybe you will inspire me?!!! Let me know how it goes. Your trip with your son sounds great...I am sure you will have a wonderful time...I hope it helps with the college decision.

Good luck with EVERYTHING!!!

Will your amaryllis be RED???? What are you going to do with your earnings from answering phones???? Shopping!?!
And your trip with your son sounds great! My dh and daughter will be taking a few of those, too!
Good luck to him!

These times spent with you and your son visiting colleges will be memorable. Seems like so long ago that I did that with my daughters.

I bet you will enjoy filling in at the office. Certainly they will enjoy you.

Will you show us the plant when it blooms? Is it a red one?

Darlene said...

Your plant is getting quite tall. I bet it will be beautiful when it blooms. The trip with your son sounds fun! I'm sure you will do a great job answering the phones. Enjoy!

Hi Stacey,
My Amaryllis have a tendency to do this.
I have had a couple that broke off. Hope yours doesn't.

I'll say a little prayer so all goes well with your sons audition.

Good for you on filling in for your friend! You will probably enjoy yourself.

I'm impressed Stacey, I'm a science major and I vaguely remember that word...LOL! Hope all goes wonderfully with the audition for your "singing son". I have one who is "singing and playing piano" at the Baptist College of Florida. Best to your son and have a safe trip.

Can't say I remember that word...I'm a History/English kinda gal! However, I do know that plants lean into the direction of light...any brownie points for that?

Prayers for your son this weekend...sounds exciting. I have a background in it.

I bet you'll do fine saying "hello" to all those people ; )

My sister in-law was a substitute biology teacher at my high school. Once in awhile I would be in her class, which was fun.
I've been thinking about bringing more plants inside to remind me of warmer days when I’m surrounded by snow.

I keep thinking, every year, that I will try growing these. I always just forget. This is going to be so so pretty.

I'll bet you will have fun working for a little while (notice I said "little while"!). And, some extra spending money is always FUN.

I just spent this entire day thrifting with a friend and we had such a good time. I found some cute cute things that I'll blog about soon. Tomorrow, I have to go back to one of the stores to pick up something so dang fun, I can hardly keep my mouth shut about it...It was too big for my friends little car...But, I am trying not to tell you what it is...I wanna blog about it...oops, i can feel it coming on..i'm gonna blurt it right out...gotta go...bye
