Our Books - Ourselves

We are experiencing another snow and ice event here in Oklahoma. Our weather is always an adventure. The nice thing about icky weather is that you simply must embrace it. I can do that.

I've taken the time today to do a little dusting. Believe it or not, I dusted book shelves that haven't been touched with a dust rag in a long...long...time. Please tell me that you have places in your house that you rarely clean...now really, be honest.

I was thinking that our books are really a reflection of who we are.

Can you guess which shelf is mine and which is my husband's?

Can you tell what I'm into and what he's into?

Have you been looking at the dust on my bookcase? You are right, that is one area that gets the least amount of attentioin when it comes to dusting.

I will take your shelf for reading...maybe look at some pictures in your husbands.

Stay off the streets during this bad weather....right now we have electricity - but the lights have flickered...and remember we live in the country where repair could be days.

We was getting ready for the ice also, then tonight on the news the weather man told us it was staying south of us (north central Maryland), sorry your getting the ice, but so glad we're not. I'm so ready for spring!!

Love your book shelf, I also read "The Shack" and really liked it.

Oh yea about dusting, until you can write your name in it I probable won't dust it. Unless we're getting company.

Oh yes, I have many areas upstairs that need to be cleaned more often, especially my bookshelves in the office!

Are you going on your school visit trip tomorrow?

I need to read the ADD Success Stories. Looks like we've read some of the same books.

I've always claimed that if a psychiatrist came and looked at my collection of books, he'd think I was Sybil. It looks like several different people's collections, such a variety!

This is hilarious and reminds me so much of our bookshelf. His reading material is SO DIFFERENT than mine. I am all about self help books and he reads Stephen King type books....the weird ones. lol!

It's me again....and YES, I totally have places in my home that don't get dusted very often. I am reminded of that as I sit her and look up at the ceiling fan!

Love your post. Yes, our taste in books reflect who we are. I hope the weather isn't tooooo bad where you are. We are still above freezing but have had LOTS of rain. It is still coming down.

Of course, I don't have any of those places that never get dusted...how dare you! If you believe this, let me tell you another big one.

I can't imagine anyone not having places like that.

That is so funny! I saw several titles from my husband's shelves. Especially Robert Ruark, I think he has read every book the man ever wrote.

Your shelf? Not so much me.

Or maybe I have the shelves reversed?!

I hope the storm wasn't too bad for you. Apparently it is supposed to stop by here later today and tomorrow. I guess I better get my dust cloth out. :)
There are certainly areas that could use a good dusting.
I spent much more time perusing your bookshelf. I was thinking that Kitty Bartholomew book looks interesting.

It was fun seeing which books you had on your shelf and which ones your husband had on his. I saw the one of Kitty Bartholomew and I remember that I would watch her quite often on the Home and Garden channel. She has a real gift in decorating. As for the dust...that is what ice storms are for...right?

I hope the weather is better today! I have to confess that since I change the paper backing my bookcases at least once year, my books get dusted and sorted through at that time. But I have other places that haven't seen a dust rag in forever!

Thanks ever so much for posting my giveaway button!
