Details, The Nester, & Happiness

Have you been following The Nester's 31 Days to a Better Dressed Nest?

Well I have. Some days I think this girl is just brilliant!
This post that she did reminded us to fill in blank spaces and pay attention to details.

Went to Hobby Lobby and found that pretty scrolly thing up on top for $14.99.

My wall feels complete now.

Thank you Nester for making me remember to fill in the spaces and pay attention to details.

Heritage Hills

Good Morning! Yesterday my Dad and I went on the Heritage Hills Home Tour in Oklahoma City. We sure enjoyed seeing all of these historic homes and walking in the beautiful neighborhood. I took some pictures for you to see. Hope you enjoy walking with us. :)

I Love Books :)

Today I looked at my Nell Hill books for the 4,738th time. Really, no exaggerating. I still get good ideas from those books though. Plus they stack up nicely and I can decorate on top of them.

Anyway, I wandered over to Amazon to have a look around for new inspiration. Do you have any of these books? If so, tell me what you think.

I will openly confess that I was drawn to the red flowers and stripes in the above picture.

This Cottage Style book looks gorgeous. I bet there are great ideas in there but I have to pass on the white slip covers. Wouldn't it be dreamy to have white slip covers? For 3 minutes or so?

I love the look of these cups or bowls all stacked up. Aren't they pretty?

More peeks of red and some beautiful houseplants.
I don't really have houseplants but I'm going to work on that.

Will you tell me some of your favorite decorating books?
It's getting pretty chilly outside and coffee with a good book is an awfully nice treat.

Happy Friday to all of you.

Thank you so much for all your kind words about my laundry room.

Laundry Room Complete

How pitiful is it that I didn't finish my project in time for the Procrastinator's Reveal party? Um...yes I know it's pretty bad. I have my excuses though. Really!

I have finished my laundry room project and I love it!

I'll show you around but keep in mind that this is a utilitarian room and too much foofoo just won't work for me because I am the

Laundry Queen!
by that I mean I do a lot of laundry

This is the view peeking into this long narrow room. When I say long I mean maybe 10 or 12 feet. As far as width goes, I can almost reach from one side to the other.

This print has been with me for probably 17 years. It's a reproduction of a Mary Cassatt painting. I love her. Besides my dogs this is about as close as it gets to having girls in the house.

This little rack is hiding behind the door and I've been hanging clothes on it.

My tin ceiling tile bucket that did hang on my front door with real plants in it. Now it's in here with one of the best fakes I've ever seen.

Apothecary jar and a picture of the Love of My Life.

Not too many accessories though because I fold laundry on the counter and on top of the washer/dryer.

This picture board was the cause of my laundry room taking so long. I made this about 8 years ago and it has a collection of my boys on it. I love to stare at these pictures. I considered taking it down or changing the end it just has to stay.

This picture board is in the category of, "If the house is on fire grab it and run."

You understand, I'm sure.

We put up this chandelier that did belong to my husband's grandmother.

It makes the room absolutely sparkle.***

Not bad for a laundry room. :)

Oh, I almost forgot. I grabbed these cute glass knobs at Hobby Lobby yesterday. I only bought two but I'm going back for more. Just a little more sparkle.

Want to Play?

Today the mailman rang my bell and handed over the cutest polka dotted package!

This cutie is from Carol at Carol's Heirloom Collections.

Awhile back Carol asked if anyone would like to participate in a

Pay it Forward game.

I signed up.

Here's how it works...the next three people who tell me they would like to play will receive a gift from me some time in the next year. Don't you love that open ended time line? No pressure!

You also get three people to play with you and you send them a gift in the next year.
Is that as clear as mud?

I love the things Carol sent to me. Three little signs that can be enjoyed over the holiday season ahead. What a cute idea. :)

Thank you Carol for sending me these darling little signs.
I really like them!

Now it's your turn. Leave a comment if you would like to play along.
Stop the Presses:
I just realized there's a beautiful Paula Deen candle that I put aside at first.
Woo hoo! I'm a happy camper.

Blogging Thoughts and a Question: Edited Saturday Morning

In a perfect world, I would understand all the ins and outs of blogging and computers. However, I'm just always a step behind when it comes to the computer skills part. So, I'd like to take this opportunity to ask a question and tell you my opinion about something. :)

-Is it possible to change the text size on the sidebars but leave the text size in the main area a different size? In other words, I want the sidebar fonts to be smaller than the center.

-I really love it when blogs have Categories somewhere that can be clicked on. Sometimes I love to just sit and look at Decorating..sometimes I love to just look at Recipes. Anywhere you want to put them is great. That's my humble opinion.
Edited to Add: Several people have stated that they aren't sure how to add Categories. When you are writing a new post there is a rectangle down in the bottom right corner of the box that is for labels. You can label the post there each time....decorating, recipes, holidays, etc. Post for the day. You also need to Add a Gadget called Labels. The Blogger program will automatically identify each post and put it in that category for you. This way when someone visits you they can click on a category and look at all the posts that you've done pertaining to a specific subject. Is that as clear as mud?

Hope y'all have a wonderful weekend.

How to Spend a Rainy Day

It has been pouring down rain here since we woke this morning. Sometimes it bothers me when the weather is like that. Today I have...

Worked in my laundry room.

Cooked a pot of 15 bean soup and...
Oh my goodness you have to try this cake. It's easy and so delicious. My son said, "How much butter is in here?" Well there's alot, of course!!

Can a Laundry Room be Pretty?

I'm working on it. :)

Joining the Procrastinator's Party

Woo hoo! I'm joining in with the Inspired Room Procrastinator's Party and proclaiming that I will redo my laundry room. Below you can see some before pictures. Truth is that I didn't remember to take the pictures until I had already cleaned out the room.

There is usually a laundry basket sitting on the dryer, clothes folded on the counter, other junk, and the ironing board is usually set up in the 5" of floor space.

I iron my clothes. Do you? This is a habit I've decided to try and curb. If I can break myself of ironing all the time then I won't have to have that 5" of floor space taken up.

This is the plan: paint, hang chandelier, replace knobs, remake picture memory board, some sort of rack for hanging clothes, and a rack to hang ironing board on. Also need to add some cute things in there that just make the room more fun.

How much have I procrastinated about this room? I think I talked about this a year ago! It's so embarassing. So here we go! Go visit The Inspired Room and join in too. :) Come back here on October 20th to see the final product.

Just ran into the grocery store for a pound of ground beef.

The candy corns were understand. Then I remembered the candy corn and peanut combination discovered last year.

Why, oh why, did I buy them?

Guess What We Saw?

Carolyn and I went and visited the Annual Parade of Homes last Friday.

Guess what we saw that totally excited us...wallpaper! It's true.

Now I realize that for some of you this sounds awful or maybe people still use it where you are. We haven't seen any wallpaper in our area in a few years. I told you once back here that I'm the only nerd in town that still has wallpaper, right? I say this lovingly so please don't get your feelings hurt if you have some. Because you see...I love wallpaper.

Have you seen the gorgeous wallpaper that Sue has? Or that Cathy has? I just swoon when I visit their blogs. Have you seen the toile that Penny is going to put in her bathroom? Love it!

I made a brief visit to the American Blinds and Wallpaper website and these caught my fancy.

I think I'd have to avoid those huge flowers.

The damask patterns seem to be popular.

Love this brownish pattern below although it wouldn't match anything else in my house.

My two very favorites from a Pierre Deux book.

I could be convinced again. Could you?
