I Love Books :)

Today I looked at my Nell Hill books for the 4,738th time. Really, no exaggerating. I still get good ideas from those books though. Plus they stack up nicely and I can decorate on top of them.

Anyway, I wandered over to Amazon to have a look around for new inspiration. Do you have any of these books? If so, tell me what you think.

I will openly confess that I was drawn to the red flowers and stripes in the above picture.

This Cottage Style book looks gorgeous. I bet there are great ideas in there but I have to pass on the white slip covers. Wouldn't it be dreamy to have white slip covers? For 3 minutes or so?

I love the look of these cups or bowls all stacked up. Aren't they pretty?

More peeks of red and some beautiful houseplants.
I don't really have houseplants but I'm going to work on that.

Will you tell me some of your favorite decorating books?
It's getting pretty chilly outside and coffee with a good book is an awfully nice treat.

Happy Friday to all of you.

Thank you so much for all your kind words about my laundry room.

Morning Stacey! I'd like to look inside any one of these books and I agree about the slipcovers!lol I don't have any of these but I too reread Nells over and over and I've only had for a short time!I bought her 2 Christmas ones on Amazon too and love them also! Another favorite I look at a lot is Kitty Bartholomew's! I need to purchase something new to read for the weekend so I just may have to pick up one of these!lol Hope you have a great weekend! Sincerely, Jeannette

Hi Stacey!
You and I would probably be standing in line at the book store holding the exact same stack of books! Love your choices! Hubby made the mistake last night of asking me if I'd like to go to Chapters-Indigo tonight....I'm going book stack shopping!!! :D
Have an awesome weekend! x

I don't have any decorating books to favorite :(

I guess I am more of a cookbook gal...that's my big weakness. But..those are certainly beautiful pictures and cute cottage looks! Oh yeah, the white slipcovers would NOT work in my house! Nothing white could survive 3 boys and a big dog..hahaha!!!

No help here, I don't have any of those books but they sure are pretty. I am like you...I look for books with covers that reflect our house too. My daughter Dana does the same, she would pick the same colors as you and I love looking at them when I go to her house. I pick ones with pink, green or blue & white in the covers.
Nell Hill books are so cool, I kind of think, because she uses so many natural, neutral colored items that seem to work in all different color and style of houses so they appeal to a really broad range of tastes. I love the stackability of her beautiful books too.

Hi Stacey! Oh, you're like me! I love decorating books and magazines too! I really don't have a favorite - I can get great ideas from most of them. I just love these sorts of books! Now if I could only learn something from them! :)
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

I know just what you mean about the Nell Hill books. I haven't had mine very long and I take them out and browse them constantly. It seems like each time I do I see something new!

I don't have any of those books you are showing but they all look WONDERFUL to me!!

Hey, I might be in your town on Saturday at some point. My friend and I are going to Affair of the Heart in OKC and usually we end up there at the Childrens Orchard after we are through.

Hey Stacey,
I love my decorating books and like you said they make great little vignettes when you use them to stack. I have one of those that you showed. I tried the white slipcovers and you see I got rid of mine, they look beautiful in a photo but not very practical especially with a miniature schnauzer who shares his house with us..LOL!! I have the BH&G Before and After book and it's really good and anything that says "cottage" on it always catches my eye. I so miss all of my magazines that have died...sigh...

Sorry to say I don't have many decor books, because I am such a magazine addict. I do have "Carolyn Westbrook Home", which I adore, and have used as a resource for my own home. She has a style that I just love!

I can relate to this post. Your first paragraph is so cute and I have done that with some of my decorating books. I don't have the ones you show, but I do have a whole shelf full in my bookcases. Sitting with a cup of coffee and drooling over these books is one of my favorite pasttimes :-)

Hello,
I think any book Country living does are Great. I have the 500 kitchen ideas and its wonderful. I love going to the book store but it seems like they suck you in and then you never want to leave!

I've always been drawn to red too, but softening in my "older" age! lol Pink, yellow and green seem to be favs of mine. (but you can always find some shade of red in my home!) Those look like great books, don't have them...love the cottage~country look.
For my new chairs...if I get taller backs, which that huge table needs, I could slip cover the backs? I am short, so I don't want the backs to be too high though.

Off to see that laundry room you mentioned.

One of my favorite activities is to go to Barnes and Nobles and look at all the decorating books! It saves me money! Alot of the books look good on Amazon but when you actually look in them - not so much. Or they're just not what I expected.

I love decorating books (and have all of Mary Carol's) -- I'm not as bad about decorating books as I am cookbooks but . . . if there is one "house" that I find inspirational, it often comes home with me.

I, too, reread Nell Hil's over and over again for inspiration . . . was at the store Thursday and you can soak in that inspiration! But I can't believe how restrained I was -- for I only bought two faux plants!

These books look just great! I usually stick with magazines for inspiration, but I see I am missing out. To the library I must go! I also love your laundry room. I wouldn't mind spending a lot of time in that room. :-)

They all look like good books to have. I have the first one and enjoy looking trough it, but I admit it was the cover that got me to buy it. Hope you found one you like.

Hi Stacey,

We had a great time because we had a girls day out....but, it was SOOOOO crowded at the craft show you couldn't hardly even get to the booths back and forth across the isle. I don't really like it when it is that crowded. They said that Friday was worse than Saturday and I don't even see how! We did end up in Edmond for a bit, but I didn't call because it was around dinnertime. We didn't stay long and I didn't want to rush a visit even if you could have met us. There is always next time or we will just PLAN a visit!

Hope you are having a great Monday.

I love my Nell Hill books. I am lucky enough to live in Kansas City and shop at her stores in this area. I was able to attend her open house and purchase a signed copy of her latest Christmas book. Her home is awesome and she is a genuine and kind lady. If at all possible you should round up a friend and make a trek to one of her open houses. Love your blog and ideas. All the best

This past Summer, I got to enjoy Tuesday morning dates with just my oldest daughter Mallory. We would go to Barnes & Noble, pick out books, and drink latte's. I always picked out the same Nell Hill book. It took me all Summer to finish it. I never bought it though.....is that wrong?? Ha! Probably. It was just so expensive. I love her books though.
