Little Bitty Tables

I have this obsession lately with wanting to add some little accent tables around the house. It seems we have corners and spots that are naked.

I found this picture on the Better Homes and Gardens website. Isn't this interesting? I would never have thought to put those two little tables on the sides of the center one. This is completely symmetrical. It's a clever idea. I like it but doubt that I would three tables side by side.

What about you?

It looks ok in the picture...but I don't have the room for such...don't care for the basket pulled part of the way out...I would probably trip over it. ha!

I had the same reaction! I like how it looks, but would never think to do that. Also, the logic side of me thinks that the pictures are hung too low, but I like the final look and composition of that wall. It all flows together.

Stacey,
There is alot going on in that space! I, too, would not think to put two smaller tables next to a larger table! That's a whole lot of table - lol! I would like to see what it would look like if the smaller tables weren't so close to the bigger table. Also, the lamps, mirror and statue seem crowded to me. How about, push the smaller tables away from the larger table, put the lamps on the smaller tables, put the greener on the larger table and I think the statue would have to go.
Hope you have a good day!
Can't wait to hear about your visit with Rochelle!
Love ya,
Cindy

Wow, that's very interesting, Stacey! I love how it looks, but I'm not sure I could pull it off myself.

I'd never have thought to do that either. Cute. Stay cool.

It is interesting, but I'm not sure if I like it or not. I'm a "more" person but they see to be fighting each other. I think you could get the symmetry using two chairs, ottomans or even large urns instead of the two tables. Or go the other way and use the two tables with a bench or settee between them. I also think I might like it better if the 3 tables were more similar..hmmm? I'm interested to see what you do in your own home!

Hey Stacey, I like the look except I am not crazy about how dark the center table is... it stands out to much for me... Other then that is great to look at... Thanks for sharing

I would now! That looks nice...I think that because the weight of it is even, it looks fine...if the tables were mismatched, it wouldn't work at all. I guess the size of the space makes a difference too. Have a great day!

Too much going on for me. I love the little tables though.

It looks great in the picture, but like some have commented, I don't think I would do it in my house. I do like little tables & have several here & there.

I hadn't noticed until SquawMama mentioned the darkness of the wood on the center table, but one thing I find interesting is that the center table is also more primitive. That does make it more interesting between the two little French-inspired tables. (Maybe the larger table has sentimental value, and the homeowner really wanted to find a way to use it. I like to think like that, anyway! Makes it seem more personal, as opposed to just "decorated.") Anyway, I love that center table! And I think for this room -- which you can tell is really BIG and spacious, all this "stuff" going on works. Still, I don't if I'd do this . . . of course I have tons of junque together in Casa St. Michael that I'm sure other folks wouldn't want to do -- So, I say whatever floats your boat! (And makes you smile when you see it in your house.)

Grins, Pamm

And thanks for your constant, sweet encouraging comments! You are a sweetheart!

I can't decide if I like that or not. I certainly wouldn't have a space for all of that in my home.

Thanks so much for your compliment this morning. I am at my heaviest weight ever so i don't hardly ever post my own pictures. But, since I can't get motivated to do anything about it (like eating LESS and exercising!!!!) then my fat pictures will have to do...lol

I love accent tables too...yard sales, garage sales, and little antique shops are the places to go to find some really unique ones and then just give them a fresh coat of paint if need be. I don't think I would be three tables side by side like that but hey you never know.

Hugs,
LeAnn:)

Hi Stacey,

The picture is beautiful...the space has lots of natural light and I think that really helps visually with having three tables, also since it's all neutrals I think it works together and is very interesting with the mix of sophisticated lamps and scuplture with a country style table...I do like the mix a lot! Have a great week Stacey and I'm looking forward to cooler temps this weekend!! How bout you? Miss Bloomers/Sonia

I think it looks great in the photo, and if you had a huge entry it would work. I have often noticed though, that what makes a pretty picture isn't really something you would want to live with in real life. I think it might look a little too busy in a real home.

Cathy said...

I think everyone agrees that this is beautiful but a little staged for real life.

I like your idea of putting some little tables in the empty corners of your room. I like lots of things in a room...more is more!!!
I probably have too much stuff but I like that look if you keep it clean and orderly!!!

I love the garden in your previous post...gorgeous!!! The pot that is spilling over is sooo pretty!!! I don't know how I missed this post!!! I am falling behind on my commenting...bad girl;)!!!

I hope you are having a wonderful week!!! Try to stay cool!!!
XOXO

That really is a different idea for decorating a foyer or hallway. It is very symmetrical with the matching lamps, pictures, and tables to each side. I could see that in a very formal, large home. I love different ways to decorate! Amy :)

That's an interesting idea! You've got to have a lot of room to do something like that - I don't even have room for the long table!

I like little tables too. You can always sneak them into the tightest corners and cubbies.

Oh yeah! And I'd have something on every one of those little tables, Stacey! You know I would!

HI Stacey! It is a pretty picture, but in real life I don't think I would like this. It just doesn't make sense to me.

Morning Stacey! This is different but I'm still not sure I like it or not???? I think it would be three times the junk collectors!lol I too have been looking around thinking I need accent tables for all my "junk"!lol You have me thinking now! As far as Christmas every year as we drive around looking at houses and with blogging I think I'll do different things next year; then when I start to put it all away I swear every year it will just be a wreath on the door!lol I admire your plan ahead attitude!!!lol Maybe when it starts to cool down!!!lol We too are getting the hot/humid stuff! Stay cool dear, Jeannette

Cute idea, although I never would've thought of doing that either :)

I think it looks cute but prob. wouldn't at my house. That would look good in a big house where there is room for all that furniture to breathe. :-) Cute as all in the pic though.

I am always intriqued by how others decorate. I would not have thought to add those two tables either, although I do like the look. I like making small changes like this to my home. Thanks for sharing this idea.

I would have never thought of a vignette of tables. What an interesting concept. The pic makes me wonder what is going on in the rest of the room.

I, too have trouble passing up tiny tables (and stools) at thrift stores and garage sales. I'd never even considered placing them like that; good thing to remember!
