I've Never Been to England

Did y'all know that a couple of weeks ago, I won the magazine give away that Penny at The Comforts of Home had? She had the best idea! She had extra magazines around her house and decided to share them with her readers. I was the lucky number that was drawn.

This perfect little box arrived full of British magazines that were wrapped in pretty purple paper and twine. Immediately I was in love! The magazines, Country Living UK and Period Living, are absolutely beautiful. What I would really like to say is that they haven't forgotten what pretty is. (Sometimes I have to wonder about designs in America)

Want to take a peek? (double click on the pictures)

See what I mean? My photography isn't the best but I'm sure you can tell.

You can even order these amazing dresses! I love dresses. :)

Oh look! They would show a home fully decorated then tell you where to buy similar items. Here's the thing...the information is provided right there with the article..not at the back of the magazine in microscopic print. Doesn't the picture below remind you of Cynthia's Cottage Design?

I just can't tell you how much I've been enjoying these pictures. I've been trying to multitask. Carrying around the magazines while I do other things. It's kind of hard to apply your natural beauty (makeup) while looking at magazines but I can do it!

Be still my heart!!

There are lots of conservatories featured in the pages. Just imagine!

Thank you very much Penny for sharing your magazines with me.

I think you had such a great idea to pass them along to a reader. It's the Sisterhood of the Traveling Magazines. Now I might do the same thing later...but you probably won't be able to pry these magazines from my hands.

Oh Stacey, What a GREAT win! I have seen them before, at Borders, but never bought any...they are pricey little gems! I think that is a great idea for a giveaway tho! I love all magazines...old and new ones! And, I do agree with you about the design and decorating over there in England..they do know how to do it beautifully! Nancy

I do love the US mags and even got a copy of an Australian and Canadian one once, they are stunning too. Love the "A rosy outlook" spread and I miss the conservatory, but not the rain lol. what a great idea, happy Monday, Kathy.

That is a wonderful idea to share old magazines. It not only keeps them out of the landfill, but others can receive joy from looking at them. I glad you won the give away.

Just clicked over from Sit a Spell...your post title caught my eye. I'm mid move right now...after living for 6 years in England we are back in the states. (We're Americans) It's quite an adjustment!

Seeing the magazines made me a little bit homesick.

Your blog is pretty...Joyce

I do love all the British mags! And with the way ours seem to be going under left and right, that might be all we'll have! Maybe we can do an old magazine swap! That would be fun.

Heavens, why don't we have more of this here? I scour every store for wonderful decorating magazines and I'd scoop these up in a heartbeat! Thanks for sharing, Stacey!

I wish we could find more magazines here like those. You are so lucky to have won them. I used to love magazines, just don't find many good ones anymore.
More pictures and articles like those might have kept some of our magazines in business.
If you decide to pass them on.....well I'd be interested, but they would be hard to part with.

Hi Stacey! How lucky you were to win; especially the British ones! I was buying some for a while in Borders and loved the quality and yes "the pretty"! You are right our magazines have gotten away from pretty pictures and put mostly ads and modern stuff! I think I'll look this weekend for a couple new Brit mags!! Enjoy (over and over again!) Sincerely, Jeannette
