Flaunting Reds Again

Miss Nancy of Southern Lady is hosting Flaunt Your Reds again. Since I enjoy any excuse for a gathering I'm here! I decided to focus on red items in my kitchen only this time. Easy peasy. You know, I love the kitchen. Mine isn't fancy with stainless steel (hint to husband) but it's pretty and it just feels like mine.
So what do we have here?

Beautiful red and green apples fresh from the grocery store.
I must admit to you that I keep them all the time just because they are pretty. We don't even really eat them. I throw the apples out in the woods and the critters eat them.

My new polka dotted pitcher that I bought at Kitchens on the Square in Savannah. I love this pitcher. Do you ever get something new and you just walk around the house from all angles to look at it? Yep, that's me.

A new cup towel that I picked up at Kitchens on the Square. Last time I said cup towel someone asked me what that was. That's what I grew up calling a dish towel.

Just my kitchen utensils.
I can't live without the non melting spatulas from Williams Sonoma.

Beautiful red ripe tomatoes on the vine.

Tomato sandwich! Don't knock it if you haven't tried it.
You must use real mayo with lots of salt and pepper. It's delish!!
I recently rediscovered how wonderful Ruffles with Ridges are.
Perfect with my "mater samwich".

Thank you Nancy for hosting us today. We love a party!

I love your blog and your post. When I was expecting my second child all I ate that summer was tomato sandwiches on Wonder white bread with mayo with S&P. To this day I still eat them and my baby (who is now a Mom) hates them...gee I wonder why:)

Love all the red in your kitchen, Stacey. Your new red polka dot pitcher is so cheery and will be such a nice reminder of your trip to Savannah. It seems that "mater sandwiches" are quite popular in the south. I just planted some "maters" and when they grow up I'm going to be sure and try out this sandwich.

First I'm in love with the polka dotted pitcher. Second, I grew up calling them cup towels also. I love a tomato, freshly sliced off the vine. Nothing quite like it. Oh, how I love the color red!

Those tomatoes look yummy! I can't wait until we have homegrown ones.
I am sorry I haven't been able to respond to your comment about herbs before today.
Most herbs prefer full sunlight, but some like mint and oregano will grow almost anywhere.

What a lovely post! The best part was fresh-from-the-vine tomato sandwich pix! My mouth is just watering, and I can't wait until vine-rippened tomatees are ripe in the garden.

Happy May Day,

PS--thank you so much for leaving such a lovely comment at Rose Cottage. You made my day!

Love that polka dot pitcher and the dish towel. Can't wait to check out the rest of your blog. I love my mater sandwiches, too. They must be eaten with Blue Plate *real* mayo, on white bread (the only time I eat white bread anymore), and with Ruffles! Wash all that down with an ice cold coke and you're in heaven. :)
