Splotching Around

Hi Everyone!

As I'm writing this it is Monday afternoon. I've just returned from Lowe's. They are having a great paint sale right now. We've always been a Sherwin Williams family but for the sale price I'm going to try this.

I brought home four sample pots of paint so I can look at it in my own surroundings. The top left paint is called Jekyll Crane Cottage Green. This is not what I went for at all but I think this is the color!

Look at the splotch on the right. Guess what that is...That's the Nester's favorite Tobacco Road. It's actually a Duron paint but Lowe's had it in their computer system and they were able to produce it for me. The bottom color is called Marsh Green (or something) I don't like it here at home. It's much too gray. I also brought home this tan color that was really what I had in mind to start with - I hate it! Just goes to show you that you can fall in love at the paint store...bring it home and realize you were all wrong.

Now here is the view of my family room that you see from the kitchen. Ignore the dog blankets and "nekked" wall (that's Miss Shelia's term) back there. See all that green? Well, I think Cottage Green makes good sense!

I'm working on that nekked corner. Used to be a mirror there that I moved to another room. I'm slow! Funny when you look at your own home in pictures. Something looks wonky to me. Could it be that plant that's all askew on top of the armoire? Looks like some funky bush growing up there. I'll tell ya why...we hide our wireless adapter thing up there and somebody has been messing with it!!

By the way, thank you all so much for your sweet comments. I just enjoy them so much and it keeps me motivated!

It looks like you made the best paint choice. The others look very gray on my screen. I think it is the plant throwing things off, but w/ some poofing, it will probably be fine! :O)

I like the "crane cottage green" shade. It is a calming shade of green, but I just know I will like whatever you pick. You did make me smile as I read your comments about your room. I looked at it and thought it looked so nice...you picked out things that I didn't even notice. I am still smiling about the plant comment.

Definitely go with the "Crane Cottage Green"...the other colors look too muddy to me. I think the green will add new life to your walls...have fun!

Hi Stacey...I once went to a paint store to buy a nice, safe, boring beige paint for my master bedroom (prior house) and came home with a dark raspberry...when we sold that house, the new owners had the interior repainted except for that room...they loved it too...so, my point to all of this rambling is to say...you never know what paint will speak to you in the store... the green is going to look
mah-velous! ;-) Bo

I have a lot of sage-type greens in the new house. I think you can't go wrong with a green color. There is just something that is calming and nature-like about that color. I can't wait to see your finished room. Looks like you are off to a great start! Amy

ahh, I do love green. Now, having said that, I am getting ready to paint my green bedroom in a soft, warm gold..just need newness !!
Now, I am still up to my eyeballs in little jiblets of wallpaper border..daaaaang! Anyway, are you planning to paint over your paper or going to remove it? I painted over paper in my bath and it has looked great for 6 years now. I am not ABOUT to try taking that paper down. WAAAAY to much work for me! Not interested, one bit.
Good luck....and hugs, bj

I like the way you have your furniture angled. Makes the room cozy feeling. They say to try paint in different lights at different times of the day. Green and blue is where my mind seems to be landing of late.

Good evening, Most Precious Stacey! Oh, I'm so excited for you! You're going to paint! I love green and think you'd made the right choice. You know, I'm like you, always bought my paint at good ole SWs, but then went to Lowe's and feel in love with a green color - Olive #3 a Laura Ashly and I think it's Vaspar paint. I love it - the color as well as how easy it was to paint with. I'm sold on Lowe's paints now! Oh, how exciting. Can't wait to see how it all turns out!
Be a sweetie,
Shelia :)
