What's Cooking at Your House?

Tuesday I cooked one of Paula Deen's recipes. This is Senate Bean Soup - found in The Lady & Sons, Too. This was delicious!! Of course we had to have a little cornbread and butter too. Aren't these just staples in the winter?
You can also find it at her website:  Senate Bean Soup

We are on a mission to eat at home more rather than eating out. Truthfully, I say this every year but it's hard when we are busy. That's no excuse so I'm seriously working on it. Are y'all trying to eat at home more?

Yummy! I'm planning to making a pot of beans Friday so we can eat on it all weekend. We love beans & cornbread!

Mmmm...sounds so good! Yes, we are trying very hard to not eat out as much, anymore. Of course, as you said, with busy schedules, it's sometimes so much easier just to run out and grab something. We're working on it!

That recipe looks fantastic! I will have to make that.

We had "Tortellini Sausage Soup" last night..it's so darn cold here that all I want to eat is soup:-)

We are trying to eat at home more as well....saves money, is healthier, and no one argues about which restaurant to go to!

I had not tried that soup but it does look good. I made Cheddar Potato soup on Sunday and ate the leftovers last night. I sent hubby with leftovers too. I think we need soup everyday with the cold weather.... how cold is it there?

And I love your dining room... great fabric and colors!

Hi Stacey...I came by from the Quintessential Magpie because I saw in your comment you are in Oklahoma. I am too but at the opposite end...in Ardmore.

We too are trying to eat at home more this year. I really hate to cook (cause I am just not that great at it) but we have been doing better...now let's just keep it up! Yesterday we had a pork loin and today I am cooking a roast with carrots and potatoes...YUM!

Yes Stacey, we too are eating at home more...it is just too easy when it is just the two of you at home the majority of the time to go out and grab dinner but I am definitely on a mission and that mission is to eat at home and cook a lot more. I love cooking but kind of got out of the habit. That soup looks delicious and I am going to make it.

Hugs,
LeAnn:)

Yes...ya gotta have cornbread with that! Question...do you put sugar in yours? We love Paula Deen at my house...her steak sauce is amazing too.

I really like Paula's recipes - and cornbread is a winter staple at our house, too - yum! :)

Hi Stacey,
We have tried to limit our eating out but on those busy days that I just don't have time to cook...we do Pizza, it's love by all and much cheaper than a sit down dinner. You soup looks great! I made Chicken Corn soup Sunday and served corn bread too! There is nothing like a comfort meal to warm your tummy and heart!

I'm certainly trying. Seeing that photo of food, I suddenly feel even more hungry. It's nearly 5:30 and I was just sitting here wondering what to come up with for my supper. Probably scrambled eggs for me. I wish you could send me some beans!

Hello,
First of all I love your Dining Room Color!
I was reading your Blog tonight and noticed the Bean Soup by Paula. I watched an episode recently that featured an easy Gumbo, never made it before, tried it and my husband and I both loved it! It is so comfy here in cold cold Michigan! I've added the information that I got from a search to find the recipe and show it was featured on. I used Johnsville New Orleans style smoked sausage.

Hi Stacey...Yes I am trying to keep us eating at home more, but when there is only 2 of us, sometimes it seems more economical to eat out...besides, leftovers get old in a hurry...LOL! I was given a Paula Deen cookbook for Christmas this year...and I'm ready to dive in to her dishes! Yum! ;-) Bo

I'm not TRYING to eat at home, but I definitely am! When I stopped working, running through the drive-through 2 or 3 days a week went bye-bye, and now I have some health issues and just don't get out as much. I definitely lost weight!

Hi Stacey! I love soup and this looks so good! I didn't have to cook tonight! Woo Hoo! A lady came and brought us dinner since I'm taking care of Mother. God was really be sweet to me - I am so tired and didn't get much sleep last night getting up with Mother, so not having to cook was wonderful!
BE a sweetie and stop making me hungry! Now I want some cornbread! lol

This looks so delicious! Gotta have that cornbread and butter! We eat out usually once or twice a week, so we do pretty good. But, I do want to try to cook healthier and more well-rounded meals this year. I have tons of recipes I have gotten out of books and magazines that I want to try.

We had cassoulet with chicken, sausage, beans, vegetables and a little wine. It's really easy and so good on a cold winters day! Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment! So nice to meet you:>)

Bill and I eat at Rosa's Mexican Food on Taco Tuesday every week or two and that is all we eat out. We have always liked eating at home...for one thing, I love cooking..another, I have the time!
I usually like to take a full day and make casseroles, a roast, anything that will freeze and keep a few things like that in the freezer..sure helps when I DO get too busy.
About THE ROOM...I think it is something like knect...on RMS..I'm not real sure, tho...I have had it in MY FAVORITES forever...
I WANT THAT ROOM REAL BAD !!!!!

Ooooh, that makes me hungry (what doesn't). I usually have butter with a little cornbread on it! I can make a meal on that alone, but a nice hot soup sounds good, too.

Yep, we eat at home for most meals. That eating out will literally break ya.

Yes, I am also trying to eat at home more. I love to go out to eat, so it is difficult, but I am trying too. Here's to more cooking at home! Amy :)

We have been trying really hard to only eat out once a week. So far so good, but it does make a LOT more dishes.

Yum that looks so good. We have some ham in the freezer left over from Thanksgiving, I wonder if it is still good? Maybe I'll give it a try tomorrow.
Thanks for stopping by.

Hey lady...
I'm really a newbie here in Blogville and I was wondering...how did you get your "inspiring friends" on your sidebar like that with the little photo???

Isn't that wonderful comfort food? I have that cookbook myself and love bean soup, and cornbread. Yummy!

How smart of you to keep a gift stash. I was shopping today but I avoided Hobby Lobby!
