Blogging: Is it good for your health?

What's your opinion...is blogging good for your health or not?

Here's my take on it. A few weeks ago I was thinking, "Now this is probably good for my brain." You know, composing a few sentences and thinking creatively. This beats crossword puzzles and Sudoku any day."

Today I'm thinking, "Does this blog make my bohiney look big? Why yes it does!!"

Are you with me on this? I'm pretty sure I'm sitting here too much.

My solution? Back to the 10,000 steps a day program.

I'm thinking that being a blogaholic is good for your health! I agree it keeps the brain cells active. I have to climb the stairs every time I use the computer, so this adds a few extra steps to my daily exercise.
Enjoy your day Stacey!

I'm with you - I spent 3 hours on here yesterday! Something has to give b/c I have blogger butt too! 10,000 steps/day sounds like a good plan. We're looking at treadmills, and I one that can hold my laptop while I blog! Best of both worlds, I think! :O)

I started this morning with a longer walk with the dogs, and plan to do it in the afternoon as well. I would like to start running again, but I have a little work to get there. I do think it is great interaction with others and have enjoyed my blog friends so much. Jackie

Stacey...you are so funny!

I have been wondering about the effects of sitting on my butt blogging! Actually, to be quite honest, yesterday I was busy blogging and got behind on my to-do list which included exercising.

So...I didn't take a run yesterday because I was off in "bloggy-land" when I shouldn't have been. When that happens, I know it's time to rein in the blog time :-)

Oh, darlin' girl, blogging is THE BEST THING IN THE WORLD!! tee hee...
I have learned to do a week's worth of postings, pre-schedule them and seems like I'm not on the computer so much. But...I still spend waaay too much time here. What can we do?? If I try to take a day off from it, I think, "Dang...what am I missing today?" What's a girl to do???
hugs, bj

This blog addiction thing of mine is definitely taking time away from my workout time. I was just thinking that I need to get UP and go exercise! But...this is just too fun:-)

Stacey,

I really think we all need to go on "Intervention". I think we have a serious blogging addiction. It's so much fun, though, isn't it???

I try to do several posts ahead of time, so that helps free me up somewhat. My hubby thinks I need to visit a looney bin! lol

I too do my posts for the week ahead of time & then schedule them to be posted. That doesn't stop me from spending wayy too much time reading all your blogs though! ;o)

Glad to hear that Molly is doing better!

Hi Stacey,

Thanks so much for stopping in for a visit! your comments are always so sweet and appreciated!!

lol, and as for the "bohiney" ?, that was too cute! :) I think the best response I can say is.... "balance"...a little walking for the bohiney and a little blogging for the mind :) or anything that makes you smile after you walk your bohiney off :)

Have a fabulous weekend!! Hugs, Cynthia

Oh, Stacey - You crack me up saying "bohiney"! lol

Yes, I agree with you 100%. I think it does keep us being creative, but it also makes us get the *spread*! I'm getting out and getting moving more this week, too! lol

Have a great Thursday! ;)

I don't think it's GREAT for physical health but it does wonders for mental health. It's nice to be able to log on a see or talk to "a friend"; get some positivie feedback and sister love. All in all---I think blogging rocks! It can be addicting and potential to bring on more "secretary spread"....remember that word from the older days....LOL!!!

Oh Lord, I know what you mean, Stacey! I have GOT to start moving more! Nancy

You are SO right! I've been thinking the exact same thing! But I do love reading and seeing what everyone else is doing! Maybe I can jog in place while I visit blogs. I'm afraid I'm so out of shape, that I'd be too winded to even read blogs while jogging! laurie

You silly little one! I think Blogging is a tremendous healthy thing! I don't eat as much when I'm blogging, but I do believe my backside is spreading out more! lol

I am on here way too much ! I need to clean out closets and drawers. My house work is really piling up.And hubby has a seasonal job and is off in the winter and gets up wanting to go somewhere everyday. So between blogging and riding my butt is getting humongous! LOL .

You have a point there! I'm sure it's not helpful to sit too long or stare at a computer screen for too long either (although it's fun!). But, I think it's all about moderation. Enjoy your walk! :)

Stacey, you are sooo funny! I never really thought about it, but, yes, it probably doesn't do wonders for my physical fitness level. I know for sure though that I get a mental workout when I blog. I don't know about you, but I am always changing things around, and not being very computer savvy, it really it such a puzzle to me most times. Somehow it all works out, but it is a lot of trial and error. All that brain power must be doing me some good....at least I hope! Amy :)

Ha! I never considered that blogging may add to the width of my bohiney!

I better get up and lace on my sneakers with you :-)

Thanks for stopping by to see me recently. I hope you enjoyed your visit and will feel welcome anytime.

Hi Stacey :)

Bohiney? LOL Yes it certainly does make it bigger, but at least my brain size is making my head balance it all out ;)

I'm sorry to read about Molly and I hope she gets better soon!

I am gonna admit...it is NOT good for my hiney...in fact about two years ago...we did away with having internet....and I lost 40 lbs...I got back into my walking...I wear a pedometer religously..got it on now..(new years resolution to lose it again rofl). I am doing the biggest loser dvd..which I love. There are several out now. It is really hard to balance your time.. However the computer and my blog are great for me getting my projects done. Double edgesword.

It depends, if you spend too much time on the computer then it's not good for you. When I first started blogging I put on about 12 lbs. because I was so excited about the whole thing that I would skip exercising in order to blog. Now I have more balance in my life and I think I have my priorities straight. Family and my health come first!

I'm definitely with you on this one. Too bad I can't read blogs on the treadmill. Oh well.

Well, it's good for my mental health! I did start back my walking program but not 10,000 steps yet. Give up blogging? No way! ;-p

Thanks for your comment about my dining room and ceiling. We built the house 2 years ago and are so enjoying it.

Blogging is fantastic for the brain --- and maybe not so good for the behind! You are right --- I better get back on my 10,000 steps program too!

Happy walking!
