Monday Ramblings

Good Morning Girls! Sweet Carol at Carol's Heirloom Collection gave me this tag over the weekend. This is such a sweet award. I guess I'm supposed to tell 5 things that I would really like to do in my lifetime...

1. I really want to see Paula Deen in person. Paul & I want to do a cooking school.

2. I want to see both of my sons happily married and with kids. :)

3. I want to be married 50+ years to Paul.

4. I want to continue learning all sorts of things...keep my brain ticking.

5. I want to be healthy, happy, and surrounded by friends and family.

Now to pass this on. I don't know who has received this so Daphine and An Accomplished Woman I'm handing off to you girls!

Now on to another subject...

For the past two years I had a job which was one that I wanted very much. It turned out to be an absolutely soul stirring stressful thing!! Like have you seen "The Secret Life of Bees"? I'm talking about the sister that absorbed every emotion from the people around her? Well, that's what this job did to me. My supportive husband finally said, "I don't think this is making you happy." So I'm home now taking care of things in the way that we are most comfortable - less money but happier. This is a round about way to get to the holidays..are you still with me?

I'm so excited about the whole holiday season this year!

In preparation for everything I'm going to start some serious housework today. Have you visited The Hyper Homemaker? Oh my goodness, this lady makes me tired just looking at what she does. What I like though is she has a list! You know I like a list. Go check out her Ultimate Fall Cleaning Challenge.

I am not going to attempt to keep up with the daily list but I'm going to try to do everything she listed. Wish me luck!

Love your list of 5, I would love to meet Paula too! Have fun with your housework. I sure have been enjoying housekeeping since I retired from teaching. I was always too tired & stressed to make it a priority.

Carol

I just loved your list. I actually have been to Paula's restaurant twice. One time they said, "Oh, she just left 5 minutes ago, or you could have met her!" Yikes...so disappointed.

I am glad that you were able to stop doing a job that was causing you a lot of stress. Life is just too short for that! I recently left a job too that just wasn't working out and I am much happier. Here's to a wonderful, restful holiday for you. Amy :)

I love your list. Seeing your kids grown up and married with kids sounds like a wonderful blessing, as is the 50+ years of marriage. I could handle those things too!

Time is precious. And the sooner we learn to cut out things that aren't making us happy, the better. I'm all for staying home. It's where I've been happiest, and feel fortunate to be able to still be here, even though my children have long ago grown up. I'm sick and tired of people asking if I ever had a "career" as though I don't currently have one that takes up time just as if I clocked in somewhere every day. Okay, I've said my bit and more. Got a little crabby there...

Hi Stacey ! So glad you stopped by today, and you come again any time!

I need to start cleaning and get ready to drag out the Christmas decorations. I have to put away as much stuff as I drag out. It makes me tired thinking about it. LOL .

Good morning, Stacey,
Oh, how fun that you are staying home now. Nothing can get you down faster than a job you aren't happy with. Same thing with me..office work for years and years and hated every single minute of it. Stuck inside, away from a window, just nearly drove me nuts...then...along came GRANDCHILDREN...to sit with...to share with...to play with...to LOVE...and that was the end of my office work, FOREVER. How happy I am now. and I know the same for you.

Now, gotta run over and see how to get my life and cottage CLEAN !!
love, bj
