Getting Ready for the Holidays

Last night I went with friends to an event at their church. The focus was preparing for the holidays and avoiding lots of stress. The sweet ladies who hosted us shared LOTS of ideas about little gifts to have on hand for people we run into all the time. You know, people who are part of your life in small ways...for us that includes piano teacher, voice teacher, math tutor, etc. These people are very important - they invest their time and energy for my son. They are a blessing!!

If you are like me, I'm often running to Panera or Starbucks at the very last minute to pick up gifts. Then I'm mad at myself because I don't even like it...I guess the part that I don't like is my lack of preparation and seemingly little thought that goes into them.

Here is the link to the website Keepers of the Home. The girls were planning to post their ideas least some of them. Hope you find some that work for you.

Then today I visited Jennifer at Smelling Coffee. Jennifer has a similar theme going on her blog these days. I love people who think of all of this stuff - and then I can copy them!! Jennifer, thank you. I will be visiting often for good ideas.

On another blog (I wish I could remember) the brilliant author said she uses November to prepare for December. She is then able to really enjoy Christmas. I like this plan.

I know we are ALL trying to spend less this year. None of this is meant to take away from the importance of Thanksgiving either. This time of year I just think about how blessed I am and some of the people who add to that. I want to recognize some of these people.

So girls, share your good ideas!!

I think it is easy to become overwhelmed this time of year. I know I do. We should look to each other for ideas to get through the season, thanks for sharing. Twyla

Hi Stacey,
Thank you so much for sharing these great blogs with us all. I love it when bloggers share their ideas and recipes. We all have those people on our list, like you mentioned, that you want to give a little something but don't want to break the bank. Great ideas. Have a great weekend! Amy :)

Thanks for the sharing the links to these websites.

I think I'll be doing a lot of baking this year. Things like brownies and cookies are always appreciated, plus they come with a dose of love baked right in! :)

I have some ideas floating around in my head for making inexpensive Christmas gifts for family & friends. I have a book of recipes for jar mixes like muffins & etc. I have wanted to do this for a long time, now that I'm home during the day I have time! I'll be posting ideas in the days to come. Thanks for the inspiration!

Those blocks are so pretty!
I've never been very good at preparing ahead of time, but I'm really going to try this year. It seems like the whole month of Dec. is a blur, with get-togethers, parties, dinners - I really want to relax and enjoy it this year. :)Thanks for sharing that blog!

Hi Satcey! Oh, thank you so much for sharing the web sites and helping to remind us to prepare and enjoy the holidays!
Thanks you for the compliments on our woodwork. Actually the guy who built our house was a home contractor and did quite a few little special things. We've enjoyed living here just needing a little up dating. lol
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;0
